Just wanted to remind those that may have forgotten about this important day in world history. If you still have grandparents or parents that fought during WWII, take a few minutes and thank them. This is a special day in their lives and they need to be cherished, because they aren't getting any younger.

For some of the younger guys on here who have a grandpa that is still living and served in WWII, if he'll talk about it, soak every last thing he says about it into your brain and cherish it forever.

My grandfather served from in Germany in '44-'45 and a year of occupation in '46. He then went on to serve his Uncle for two more years in Korea. He died when I was 8 years old and I would give anything to be able to talk to him just one more time.

God Bless those that served Past, Present, and Future.

My Grandfather was not in the Military . He worked underground at the labs in Los Alamos New Mexico for 29 years . He worked for the Naval Research Labs in Washington D.C. for 9 years then back to Los Alamos . His name was Chester Oran Morris . You will never hear about him on the History Channel .They dont have any books written about him . I burried him in 2002 . He was a neat man who dedicated his life to the United States of America . He died with the weight of 300 thousand plus dead from the bombings in Japan on his mind .140,000 people died in Hiroshima & 80,000 in Nagasaki.

I get to meet about 30 Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge on a weekly basis. They are a rare breed. Very interesting people and for some reason seem much happier as an older American than so many of todays boomers & younger people and they lived through some of the worst parts of American history. Also my grandfather was in WWII as an MP. Past away 20 yrs ago just after i joined the service.
