I am new to the forum... and 3wheelers. My name is Bill. I kinda went all in and bought three of them this morning. I live in Hot Springs AR and like to tinker. I figure It would be nice to restore these and find my old yellow and green stripe over the calf tube socks and relive some past glory. Turn the Black Oak Arkansas up way to high and let the PBR flow.... now just to find pull tab cans :wondering

Any way, this is a very nice looking forum and I have been lurking and reading off and on as I have thought about 3wheelers before. I will try and get some pics and information up as i get time and figure out my new camera.

thanks in advance, as I know I will have tons of questions.

I think I will need a new tank and new or reprint stickers. I think the plastics are in pretty good condition. I will be on the market for a repair man. so if anyone knows where the best place is to get them for these trikes let me know!

thanks,

Bill

here is #2 it is a red honda

This ones plastics are in ok condition but nothing to write home about. I am thinking that new stickers and a new back fender piece. I can see some varnish in the tank and know carb rebuilding x3 is in my near future. I do not know much about these so chime in with what model or any information you know about them. I do also know I want to re-cover this seat or replace it with a factory one... or even a factory style covering job. The way it is just looks like crap.

thanks,

Bill

and I give you my third 3wheeler, a black kawasaki 200

Over all this one is in ok condition but has more rust than the others. Hope everyone likes them... I know i do. I just hope I still like them as i start finding all the things that need to be rebuilt and replaced... and all the money that calls for :(

thanks hoosier. I have down loaded the heck out of them. I am thinking that fixing the honda first would be best... as I want to be driving around and it looks like it would be the best bet of a quick turn over. I think the black cow is gonna be the most fun when done... but that is down the line.

Any suggestions on the best spray lube to free up brake cables and the like?

I am kinda surprised there are not any comments on these... and like I said I am interested in any information or options about what to do with these trikes.

alot of people are at or getting ready for trikefest. You do definatley have your work cut out for you on them. Just save them if you can dont let them go to the junk yard.

thanks Mike. this is a wealth of information.

I do have a few questions I have hot been able to figure out or find information on.

1) is there a write up or guide to front disk brake conversion using off the shelf parts. I see a few on swapping forks. I am thinking it should not be to bad to just swap a master, res and lever from something common and match it up with a disk and caliper. Just a thought but I do not see why it should be too much work... and i have three bikes i would like to upgrade brakes on.

2) is there a seat renovation thread? I would like to do a factory style... but am thinking reworking the foam and adding more padding would be nice. I can glue carpet padding and carve it to the shape I want... if there is no thread for something like this dose any one want one with lots of pics?

there are a lot more questions I have and I am sure I will come up with even more... Thanks for the support so far guys!

Bill

edited part- the more I read on here the more it seems the drum brakes are good enough for the most part. I guess it is a low item to change up considering how much needs to be done.

First Run! I got the honda running.... though not well enough. I am confused about some of the hoses on the carb and vent on the tank. I can keep it running much better if i blow on the vent tube.... kinda raise the fuel pressure. from what was left of the old dry rotted tubing on the carb I got it to idle and start... So I got that going for me. Just not willing to run with the throttle.

any insight ... let me know!

Did you clean the carb? If its a honda, thats all she'll need. =)

Welcome!

yeah. cleaned the throttle "needle" and all the trash out of the bore. one of the screws on the bottom was stripped, head not threads... so far. I am getting fuel from the bottom so I am guessing i have a worn or stuck something or other. I also see that i need a new petcock.

BUT it moved under its own power... ok not far and not fast... but from barn to moving in 7 days!

what are the thoughts on the ebay carbs?

1) Mikuni (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330579602437&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT)

2) Honda Carb (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260793357349&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT)

or option

3) rebuild (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA-CARB-REPAIR-KIT-CARBURETOR-ATV-ATC185S-1983-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem19b650c3b5QQitemZ11043 2928693QQptZMotorsQ5fManualsQ5fLiterature) and i will have to dig out the dremel and cut a flat head into the stripped out screw and prob replace that screw... LOL digging into my collection of junk and going to the welding shop for a matching screw might take longer than shipping from china!

thanks for your thoughts,

Bill

Carb should be an easy find. Just look for a good seller on E-bay if you decide to do that. I would be surprised if someone on here did not have one they could part with. Go post on the classified thread and see what you come up with.

I am not too far from you..... I am right outside of Memphis, my best friend lives in Little Rock.
