anyone try one of these yet? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1985-86-Honda-350X-1986-89-TRX-350-350D-Big-Bore-492cc_W0QQitemZ180689530586QQihZ008QQcategoryZ4397 7QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I emailed them and was told its 10:1(with chamber opened up to the bore, no squish band), o-ringed cylinder, and +2mm intake reliefs, which they also say they have(33mm intakes). Piston appears to be just like the 92mm JE, only bigger and less dome, and ~25 gms heavier. their sleeve is 4.055 o.d., leaving .120 wall @ 96mm. I've been using the xr500 sleeve which is also .120 wall @ 92mm, and .080 @ 94mm. I 'd be concerned with heat and strength any less than that, especially with the rock that the larger pistons have.

If I had known that this was available.. I would have never sold my 350x

yea, its the first I've seen this big in a while. I believe JE will do a custom order run of 4 as a minimum, and hes got 3 of these on ebay, also LA sleeve says they need 4 orders before they'll re-order, so that makes sense. I'd like to see these, 92 +, sizes with more compression, and some different valve relief locations for the xr/ft head.

I was wondering how long it take for someone here to ask. These are from a friend and myself. Wev'e done about 1 and a half years of extensive r&d on these with over 2 dozen combinations, cams, valves, carbs, different comp. ratios, strokes, and what runs best all around is, believe it or not is stock crank, +2 valves, my headwork, with 38 flatslide, header and modified crf450 fmf muffler. I know for a fact those prices are not carved in stone. We do all work in house for all bikes and trikes. Give us a call.

That looks like a very interesting kit! Interested to get some ride reports on it. You guys using an XR500 sleeve? Thats the oldschool way of doing it.

The ride report is everything you would expect, tons of power everywhere. I'm sure its not the fastest 350x ever, but thats not what I was trying to build. More like a really strong well manered trike that will live, and not cost a fortune to build or maintain. Iv'e built 5 so far including 1 for me and one for my brother, and 3 for customers. No problems yet and no complaints.

hey, thanks for answering my questions on ebay. got some more...

what cam profiles did you test, did you flow the head/get data, and what stroke sizes did you try? i'm currently running 92 x 74 and it has some pretty good piston slap. tried a 94 slipper skirt, thought the 92 full skirt would help. it did a little, but its still noisy.

its suprising they rev out as good as they do with the big bores/cam, being so down on valve area. probably has a little to do with the long rod to stroke ratio. but with the stroker you really start to run into the wall for airflow requirements.

Looks like a good set up My buddys that he pulls is a 96mm bore with a powroll stroker and a xr500 after market cam (not sure who's cam) and a 40mm electron carb. It pulls good but its a real horse to start

What do you guys think of the xr/ft 500 heads on a 350 worth it ???

The only cams we tested were the mega cycle 162-30 and 162-40, and stock. Only tried the powroll 6mm, and stock. No flow data on my heads, 30 years of building motors and porting heads, with extensive drag racing and seat of the pants dynoing. As I stated before I wasn't trying to set the world on fire with these motors. In my opinion, dollar for dollar this combination works best. Stock stroke, stock cam, +2 valves, ported head, 96mm bore, 38mm flat slide. We did see more power with the big cams, and the stroker, but for what it costs I don't think it pays off that well. Plus you don't have to work the motor that hard to realize the mods. But these are just my opinions.

Awesome kit for sure. I'd like to build a nice 500 one of these days.

the 350 head is just fine to use . my motor builder just inlarged it a bit .. if you want more info call tom carlson at tc racing engines at 1-814-723-3514 but i think he's on vacation for another week or two .. when it comes to this engine he's the best and i've tried them all !! and the piston i think he cut up a 79 xr500 piston to work with the stroker ..

Will any of this stuff work on a TRX350D? ('86-'89 Foreman) I'm thinking about buying one to put in a custom 250es build, and I want lots and lots of power. Speed is not necessary...

Those are pretty much the same engine as the 350x for the jug up

Ok, cool. Best I can tell crankcase and transmission are the same on the TRX/ATC 250, 300, and 350; besides that the 350 has an oil cooler. So I should be able to make it work in a Big Red.

What about the 350d rod?

I was looking for this thread the other day. I will hopefully have a ride report in the next month. Hurricane635's work looks impressive to say the least:
