I ran one on my Tecate back when I flattracked, we had offset to help hold the bars to the left. I ran it for one season and canned it. I really didn't help much, more show than go .

I've been running one on my '84 Tecate for 20+ years and the difference between with and without is night and day. It helps track straight through whoops, if you get into rocks it will help with the rocks not tearing the handlebar out of your grip. It helps loading it on the trailer.. I realize there won't be as much help with a skinnier front tire. I like it so much I bought one for our 86 250r. I'm a big fan of them..

^ No, they are pretty great depending on the speed you ride an obstacles you run into.

It should be pretty easy to hook up and make a linkage for any of them by anyone qualified. Just figure out the little damper and it's ends.......

85 250r the mounts seem different compared to the 83,84s
