Right around 2pm give or take, we had an earthquake big enough to shake the buildings and stuff where I work just south of Baltimore City Maryland. Pretty crazy. I thought something blew up. I'm not used to things shaking like that, without hearing a big gun firing or missles going off. You hear about small tremors, but nothing noticeable. People started coming out of buildings seeing what happened. All seems ok around here, not sure about other areas around though.

Wow. I don't know what is was on the Richter Scale around here, but I heard on the news it was felt up into New York. I hope no one was hurt. I'm glad I wasn't driving up interstate 81 during that. All those roads cut through the mountains. There are signs everywhere warning of falling rocks as it is, let alone when the ground gets shaken up.

Centered about 35-40 miles from here, rattled things up a little lasted about 30 to 45 seconds or so and no damage that I've heard of... somewhat of an ice breaker for the incoming hurricane I guess...

Latest track map for Irene doesn't look very promising, we were just in Nags Head last weekend, as of now it looks like a direct hit for the Outer Banks and ride right up the coast.... Definitely not looking forward to it...

we felt it up in northern mass today. im with ya huffieva i think irene is going to be bad as well. all the overhead lineman from my shop are already on there way to orlando for standby until the storm hits. us underground guys never get a piece of the pie unless its a real bad storm and then they call out everyone possible.

we had a a couple a few years back about that size here. the center was just a few miles away. it was pretty crazy waking up to almost being shook out of bed. lasted almost a whole minute.
my sister lives out there in Va. too and we're hoping the storm doesn't hit too bad. so you guys keep safe and dig in. ;)
