I got into trikes about a year ago in the summer. I was just browsing the web and stumbled across this site. At first I wanted a quad but then there was something about trikes. I liked the way they looked with the dirtbike type radiator shrouds and I enjoyed riding them. I emailed Howdy and talked to him and I had my first trike around 3 weeks later. It was a 1985 250sx. Around 2 monthes later I checked out these forms and really started to enjoy posting here. I then went to TF03 and had the time of my life. Ill definitly be making the trip to TF04. Here is a pic of my 250sx. I just got rid of her about 1 month ago. I now have a 200x and a 350x.

my first run-in with a 3-wheeler was not quite what i expected.... my uncle buought a little 83 110 and said it was just like riding a 4-wheeler so i took off on it..... i got down towards the end of my drive-way and try to turn too quick and ended up running into a telephone poll and getting knocked out cold. ever since i have only rode 3 wheels or less.

I got into trikes in July(2003). I had riden them almost my whole life around the farm and hunting but never really cared much about them :? .

My first and only trike of my own was a 1984 Honda ATC200s...although my family had a Big Red :?

My older brother came home from the honda shop with two brand new ATC90s in the back of his Chevy LUV. After I helped him unload them, I said "Lets go ride them" So we did.

Well, in 5th grade (8 years ago) my brother had a 1979 Honda 110 given to him. My dad then bought a '84 Yamaha 200 because "he had to make sure that Rob would be safe when riding" (he realy wanted to ride too). I rode both machines untill 8th grade when I got my first bike, a 1984 Kawasaki 110. I loved that bike but it just didn't have the topend to keep up with my dads 200 and my friends 200sx (quad). Since then I have had a bunch of trikes (see sig.).

I always wanted a mini trail or a three wheeler when I was a little kid, but my dad kept telling me to save my money and buy one if I wanted it. You don't have a lot of income when you're 8 years old, so it took a while. :-D By the time I was 10 I had saved up $250 and bought a used 83 Suzuki ALT50, which I was entirely too big for, but I rode the hell out of it none the less. When I was 12 I bought an XR100, and I was definitely hooked. I went through an ATC90, and a 110, and a few dirtbikes, a couple blasters, and a 200X, and then my friend found a mint 85 ATC250R for $400 bucks, and I was completely in awe. I found a well-used 83 ATC250R, but it was no match for the 85. Then I bought an LT500R and rode it for a year or two before joining the military. I got the bug again a few years later and bought an 85 TRI-Z to fix up, and I was hooked again. Now I finally own the bikes I always wished I could have as a kid, and I spend my free time restoring old bikes, putting to use all that mechanical knowledge I picked up while working on a bunch of abused bikes as a kid.

christmas in 1983 i had a brand new 185s sitting in my barn, 20 years later, and around 100 bikes later, im still here, but now i rarely ride them, mostly on the trx anymore, and actually have cars for transportation, use to count on the bikes for the wheels back then! the 250r's are ran now and then, the 350x's are washed and started, the 250sx seen more useful days, the trizinger and atc 70's are ridden by the boys, and the tiger sits and waits!

back when i was around 8-10 my stepfather took me for rides on his 83 big red 200 that he is the original owner of then i went looking to buy a 4wheeler about 4years ago found many but they were out of my price range then my dad said that a guy he works with had a 3wheeler so i stoped by and had a look at it it had the original tire was bone stock with a broken brake leaver, a hole melted on the black ruber around the left fender small tear in the seat cover so i bought it for 650CAD took it home and rode it for about 8-10 months almost every day to work and back and lots of play then it broke (timing chain tentioner) it was parked and i just pulled it out this past month and am now fixing it and geting it ready to roll

hope to be going soon :)

I first rode these things at our hunting camp in North Louisiana. We had 2 big reds ('84) that were shared among 20 or more guys. Needless to say, these things were ridden hard--but they ALWAYS ran. (this was in the mid to late 80s) We could access the whole lease by 3 wheeler and it was a blast. I tried to buy one myself but I was 13 at the time and they all seemed to sell for $1500. I finally bought my own '84 big red in may of this year and since then, I've added an '82 110 and an '86 200x. I'm hooked.

I started riding a 83 185s about 10 years ago and have been into trikes ever since. Funny thing is my first atv was a brand new LT 50 my parents bought for me back in 85' when I was 4. My past trikes are 85 200x, 85 tecate, 84 dx 225, 85 tri z 250 and my current trike is a 86 350x. Here's a pic of the 185s I started riding and we currently still own it.

Dad got me a 85 200s for my 5th birthday I think...it was the summer between kindergarten and 1st grade. We went riding together alot and when we got into a pit or on a nice easy trail he would let me ride around alone...which was a huge mistake since I'v always been a little on the wild side of things. It turned into an addiction.

One upon a time my friend Arlis an myself owned a Porno shop, and one day this guy came in like "I'll trade you this 1983 YTM200 for 3 porno movies"...so we were like, ok! And the rest is history, as they say......

my uncle got me started back in 85-86, he was a racer(semi-pro) i think, he's got lots of trophies...anyway he had two 85 250r's and a kawisaki 250 84 or 85 ..not sure...he let me ride the kaw because it had a broken shock mount and figured i couldnt go too fast and he said no jumping...lmao i was young and hardheaded ...man that thing was quick...keep in mind this is my first ever three wheel ride..........he had a mx track and cross country at the time..he later added a drag strip.....after that , maybe a month later my brother bought a brand new 85 atc 250r and he let me ride it occasionally..until one day he figured he couldnt handle it so he basically gave it to me...i only gave him about $300 or so ,i cant remember...anyhow i really haven't had a desire to ride anything but my r.......nothing else can even come close to the rush i get when i fire that baby up!!!
ps...the name of the track was ....DREAM MOUNTAIN RACEWAY...anyone ever hear of it??

My first ride on a trike was on a '82 Big Red 200E. I was so used to my minibike that everytime I turned I put my foot down and ran it over lol. My first trike was a '82 185S that I bought for $200. Then I bought the Big Red and the 200.

I first got into riding when my dad got me a 1994 XR100R when I was 7. I rode that for 2-3 years, and meanwhile, every trip to Upstate NY, I got to ride my brothers SX's. I loved them so much, I traded my XR100 for my brother's mint condition 1987 250SX. I loved that thing....I rode it a good hour EVERY DAY after school, and 5 times longer on the weekends. That went on for 4 years, and then I got my '02 Foreman in Winter of '01. I sold the SX to a good friend (87 250SX) that spring and have wanted another trike ever since......

I started riding at my friends farm, he had a couple of 3wheelers a 70 and a 90. Heres a pic of us riding the 90 in a parade. I'm guessing this is 1976. If so I'm 9, I'm on the back. Soon after this I got my first 3wheeler, an 1973 ATC70.. now that was a cool trike!

My first encounter with trikes was at out farm. I went up the road too see our friends and there sitting there was a 1973 atc 70. I liked it but dident think much of it. I then found out down the road from the 70 lived a 185 suzuki. I went down there and admired it but did not have the guts to ask to fix it up. This guy came to live there and soon he got that 3 wheeler running. We had a ct90 and when that trike ran I threw riding that 90 away. The trike was a better option. Powerful, reverse, towing ability and whatever else. I then started riding the farmers quads, until i realized they were crappy and stiff. I then decided to buy my own trike..........months went by and i cold not find a trike. A good deal came up and i ended up buying a 1984 atc200es. well it turned out the frame was shot (it was a rust bucket) i ended up buying another bike and using the frame off that. I tore both nikes down and painted and cleaned till i could not paint and clean no more. I put the bikes together and now i have a beautiful atc to look at ( well now that its trashed maybe it aint so nice but in a few months itll be well again)

i bought a 1983 honda 200 plain for 200 bucks, replaced the rear tires and rear bearings, set the valves up and timing, then rode it like mad, hit a few jumps, felt like i almost broke my back, then parents said to sell it, put it on the yard for 550 bucks, first guy bought it for 500, that was this summer, then bought the 200X after restoring my KE100 dirt bike, sold the dirt bike, the 3 wheeler is for sale, but not sold yet, been for sale for about a month and a bit now.

I may keep it, we are putting an addition on the shop and i might add my own addition to store my BMX's and this trike, maybe wink

I was about 10 or 11 years old and I took my XR100R to my grandparents in upstate NY to ride, and my brother's step-son (about my age) wanted to get into racing. Well, my dad and brother began to talk and I traded my dirtbike for his mint condition 1987 250SX. It had new brakes, tires, fork boots, cables, Maier plastics ALL the way around, and brand new handle-bars. I rode the piss out of it over the next 4 years (never wrecking it or anything like that though). Only thing I had to do to it was replace the brushes in the starter, get a tire for it, and do routine mantinence.

I think I have some pics of it...but they are on a different computer.

I'm 28 now, I've got picture's of me on a trike when I was like 5 or 6. Grew up riding them. Never seen a 4 wheeler back then. Alway's liked dirtbike's. Got dirtbike. Found out trike's a way more fun. Quads became mainstream. I like quads. I got '03 400ex. Found out trike's are way more fun. When I pay off quad, I'm selling it and getting my two dream bike's:'86 250r & '86 350x. I will die a happy man then.

Started with a 1983 Honda 200 (hence the name, honda 200, lol) I bought it for 200 bucks, with 2 flat rear tires, it ran, but realy hard, and after 5 minutes of running the head pipe turned cherry in colour, so i quickly stripped most of it down and reset the valves, cleaned the carb, adjusted the carb and threw it back together and rode it for 3 hours same day, hit 2 3 foot jumps, sold it the next day for 500 bucks :P lol

Went out bought a 1986 Honda 200X, needed plastics, tune up, rear bearings, and thats bout it. Heres a pic

Here (http://www.fullservesite.com/curtis/pictures/honda%20trike.jpg)

yea, i should have got new rear tires before i sold it :Bounce lol

i bought that bike for 475 bucks and sold it for a grand, i only put about another 300 into it,

Currently looking into 250R, or a 350X

When I first started riding back in 1978, 4-wheelers didn't exist yet, and they were called ATC's, not ATV's. My first 3-wheeler experience was on an ATC 90. At the time, I had a 1977 YZ80. Shortly after that first experience, my parents bought a '78 ATC 90 & then a '80 ATC 110. I sold the YZ80 shortly thereafter and got myself an '81 ATC 110, and it's been 3-wheelers ever since.

As a kid i had an OLD kawi kv75 POS that i pushed more than i rode, was given to me by my uncle.

Always wanted something better but parents were poor and it was not an option, scrounged ( picked blueberries and sold corn by the dozen at the end of my parents driveway at 1 $ a dozen... ) and bought a Yamaha 175 ( old.. painted over about 100 times, 2 stroke, air cooled, i have no clue what model it was..

then i got an XR 200, that bike was cool.. the timing chain went on it and took me a year to afford to have it fixed, and it was stolen the next day.. god i was pissed.

So now that i have my own house, garage, and a little money, i can't afford a new quad, but i can afford a descent trike and at the same time learn how to fix it......

i now have an :

82 atc 200
84 atc 200es
85 atc 250sx.

The 82 is getting sold soon, to make room in the garage. the 84 will be ridden by friends only, and i'm keeping my SX t'il the day i die !

i got the bug in grade 5(in 10 now) i moved out to a farm where we rented a house, there was an old yamie pro-hauler250 cart that i learnd to drive, then my friend had a go-kart so i had to build one....lol so i did, but then it was too slow so i got a 78' ATC90 from one of my uncles after much pleading with my parents that it was just as safe as a quad..lol, i got it for free from him about 4 years ago, put tires on it and rode the hell outa it, i rebuilt it just recently, then my mom bought me an 82' 200 from my same uncle for 650$, i still have that but i just got rid of the atc90 as a deposit on a 86' cr125 , becuse the 200 is too slow and its dirt bike country around hear, lots more places to go with the bike than the trike unfounatly, and the bike was cheaper than a 250r or a 350x that i really want...lol

I used it for everythiong:from dragging the christmas tree to the woods to riding down the pavement to work for my neighbor. Best part is...i still have it and IT RUNS. Currently i am racing my 1983 250R and i suspect ill be riding trikes until im in the grave

I started out on an ATC70 when I was three. My father bought a 84 200X in 84 that was flat track raced. I then bought a cherry 85 350X about 4 years ago. Last May I bought a 86 250R. You can never have too many toys! I have always felt more in control on three than on on quads.

My dad had always used trikes ever since the atc 90. When I was born him and buddies had trikes: I believe what is now my 82 (being restored) another big red and a yamahauler. Well after a while they stopped using the trikes all the time for hunting, but we still rode the old 82 red around the yard and up and down the alleys at my old place (I have a very treasured pic of me on the trike at 4 years old). Well we moved, and the old red sat behind a tree in my current yard for several years. I only used it for sitting on and playing pretend war on when I was much younger. Well when I was in grade 7 (in 10 now) We got our farm and brought the old red up there. I was free, my dad turned me loose and It was great just screaming across the prarie and negotiating the woods. After a few weekends I was obsessed (my friends all got dirtbikes in grade 8 so the whole gearhead thing really took off) I became the pistonheaded trike fanatic I am now. I also rode a few different quads, but loved the old trike the best. I got my 83 almost a year ago (in may I'll have had it for a year), because we wanted more than one farm ride. I found 3ww when I typed in 1982 honda big red on google and have been on here ever since. I've read pretty much all the articles here, and have spread the trike love to lots of different people from buddies to random people at school with slight interest in anything that drives. I love my trikes, and have ridden them ALOT. People often know me as: the tripod, or the trike man. I am now restoring my first trike, my old 82 big red. I love that thing, and I wouldn't sell it for any price, it will be passed on to my children and my children's children. When I get a better paying job, my shop will fill up with trikes of all shapes and sizes, because that is what my life is about. Another important thing about trikes for me is, when I hear a babe whos never seen a trike before say: "wow, that thing is awesome, its like completely different from a quad or a motorbike, and you have your own!" Man all the memories, let the trikes live on, and let more people join the trike brotherhood. :beer

I was around 8 or 9 years old first time I rode one. My best friend got a brand new 1982 110 for his birthday. Previous to that the only things I had ridden were lawn mower engine powered mini bikes and go-karts. A couple years later when I was 11 (winter 1984!) I got my own first trike. A brand spanking new 1985 200x. A couple of guys that would ride in my area had 1984 200x's and it was love at first sight. I had to have one. Took two solid years of whining before the parents finally caved.

I wish I still had her but if I did I wouldn't have the R that I bought when I sold the X. I've had the R for about 15 years or so now.

back in 85 we all bought wheelers , then I started racin and within a year was rated as # 8 in the state for the am. class. then moved up to 7th the next year and thought I'd get serious about it the next year but wammo the government knows what's best for us and outlawed my dream.

The first time I ever rode a trike it was my best friends beat up '82 Big Red when I was 12. Forks were junk, needed rings, but still ran like a top. A year or 2 later I bought a '82 185S from my biology teacher for $200. All it needed was new sprockets and brakes, and I was ready to ride.

when i was about 6 my dad took me out to glamis for a weekend(1983?)
all i remember was he put me on something huge with big fat tires and it was red. he let me cruise all over the place. i have no idea what he was riding cause i can barely remember now. well that got me hooked. in 1996 i bought a mojave and then sold it for a streetbike in 97. about 3 weeks ago i picked up a 250sx really really cheap and it is my first. i am already debating about my 2nd trike. i am thinking about finding an 86 250r and giving the sx to my wife.

well my dad made me a go kart when i was 6 and he had open heart surgery and couldnt finish it so at the age of 6 i got out there in the garage and learned how to put things together the frame was all welded up just needed assembly, so i put it all together while my father watched and did his stretches to keep from gettin blood clots in his legs and arms from the blood thinner, i will never forget that when i finished that go kart and felt like i was on top of the world, then i got diagnosed with the same heart problem as him and he said, "u arent going to live my life" so the next day he came home with a 81 old school 185s that he got for 150 and told me to redo it so i took it down to bare frame he painted it for me and helped install all the new bearings and stuff on it, it had a 10.5 to 1 piston was on 40 over had a cam and a cobra exhaust and was "jetted" and the rest is history. 5 atcs later i got the perfect set up (look in the signature)

I got started when i was like 4 or 5. My parents let me ride their 81 110 around the yard in front of the house. When i turned 12 my dad gave me his 82 185S and that winter i got kicked out of school for fighting and i went to work with my dad and asked around and found a 84 200X for 50$ so i bought it and it looked like it belonged in a junk yard. 800$ later it looks almost new and runs perfect.

Almost exactly a year ago when I was 15 my neighbor was selling his 1985 250sx. So my dad went over with me and asked if I wanted it. I had never had a quad or a trike before this so I said yes. So from then on it was mine. And since then I have gotten a collection of 1985 250SXs as you can see from my signature. :) But I CRAVE for a 350x.

http://home.elp.rr.com/pi8tures/185%20s%20smoky%20ride.JPGI just saw my trike sitting in a garage with a toolbox on top. It was used to go to a nearby junkyard for stuff. It was all flat and sad looking. I might just rescue another honda atc 185 s sometime soon I saw from the highway. Spare engines never hurt anyone. I may need one soon. This is a pic of my brother riding it the weekend after I bought it. Can't say I would be missed or not seen by anyone shooting in that hole to the right. There have been a couple of times people are shooting in there and a jeep or something is riding around down range by those power lines. They know people go shoot there. Dunno why they just schlep across the way. This pic was taken with an old Concord 1.3 megapixel camera I scored at kmart for 69$. Not the best but all I could afford at the time. I may update this soon with a more recent pic using the same one. expect one sometime in aug/sep of this year.

UPDATE--FINALLY!

Ok, I know its not August anymore but I finally got a video of this trike. I posted this on another thread but I guess I can stick it here so as not to leave this hanging for all those who haven't found the other thread. Now, without further adoo or adon't , here is it..here it is: My trike now that it doesn't blow (smoke).....

Well I started riding at about age 5 on a Kawie Bayou 400 4wd, then learned how to ride a clutch at about 7 on a Yamaha 480 i beleive...i could barely reach the pegs...had to use a nearby fence to get on it. Then we got some Honda 125m's and i loved em but the speed was crap compared to my past rides. Then about a year ago i started wanting my own bike that had some power and good handling soo i bought my original 85 200x., but now its up for sale or trade for a 2 stroke trike, quad, or bike....I know, i know...i really want a trike but ya got to do what ya got to do to compete.

Well it all started last year when a buddy of mine died. I had known him for years and had seen the trikes in his yard many times but never thought much of it..I have 2 sons 11 n 12 well the oldest has wanted to ride something since he was born. Over the years he had asked about the trikes and my buddy always said they were both pretty much scrap and dangerous. I had never been on any off road vehicles in my life so I was more a less happy. Then after his death the kid started asking about them again...Well to make a long story short ,the widow got her house painted and threw the trikes in for free(85 honda 200x,82 kawasaki klt 250) i got the honda runnin on christmas eve and it made for the best christmas me an the kids ever had :) found this site an have been addicted ever since

well I got into it about a year ago, I was chilling out and started getting into sleds which i have always had, and the i decided one day that i want somthing to ride in the off-season(summer) lol and started shopping around for an 4 wheeler.. i looked and looked and then one day saw a buddy of mine in a video for school doing doughnuts and wheelies and having a blast on his 200. then i started talking to him, and eventually bought a bunch of '83 200 parts, for 250 that me and him slapped together and I had a running trike, then over a summer, i was in drivers Ed talking about what i blast they were and how much i loved em. and this one kids like yeah i got a 200s im lookin to sell. So 150$ later i had a 200s. haha Now i want a 200x im just addicted.

to make a long story start.around age 13, wanted a go kart, went to honda shop looking.got a 1980 atc 110 instead.traded that in on a 81 200 rode that a while. one day a friend a school showed me a small black and white picture of a new atc,1981 atc 250r. nothing else would do. so after lots of fast talking ,we loaded up the 200 and traded that for the 250r. the first one the dealership sold. did not even know how to work a clutch, but learned fast.rode that one into the ground. traded that in for a 200 big red, wreaked that. got a 82 250r. that one got stolen. got a new 83 250r with 300r kit, pipe bla,bla ,bla. also picked up a tri moto 125. fast forward to about 91. sold the 300. stll ran good. long atv break.2003 bought a brand new z 400 suz. rode it ,but it just didnt do it for me. sold that bought a total pos 81 250r. fixed that one up. now i have 5 atc's in pretty good shape and one roller project. i get more satisfaction out of my atc's than that brand new quad.

My dad bought himself an ATC 110 about 3 years ago, to use to ride to work and back. By this time I had ridden quite a few quads and bikes, but something just clicked with the trike. It was so much smaller and lighter than a comparable quad, it was nuts. Powersliding on gravel was FUN.

I got into riding trikes about a year or so ago. I want over my frainds house and he said that he just got a 350x. So I looked at it and I liked the way it looked. Then he said that a guy he knew had one. We went for a ride one day cuz i had a dirt bike. While we were back there he let me take it for a ride and i liked it. So a few months late I got my frist trike a 85 200x. Now we collect them. right now we have 7 trikes and we love them. I am now 15 years old and we ride everywere. If you ride at tower city, Bowie, or hatfeild mcoy or are local trails be are house in dundalk by walmart you may have seen us.

My Dad brought home 2 atc 90's in 1974 to go exploring old mining camps in the California desert. since then I've owned a 1979 atc110, 1982 atc250r and a 1985 350x I spent quite a bit of time going to Glamis in the 80's. I got out of three wheeling during the 90's and eventually moved to Texas where I found a beat up 1983 atc 250r in 2001 for 200.00 and spent 6 months restoring it. Man i'm glad I did I forgot how much fun our sport is.

For me it all started when my mom started dating a guy who owned a trike. I went out to his farm and rode his trike around alot and it was always fun. Then about 1 1/2 years later there was a Honda 125m for sale in my area, and it was just after my birthday so I had some money and bought it. Best thing I have ever bought in my life.

My brother bought a piece of crap dirt bike 3 years ago, and the fever started!!!!! I found a quad for sale for $300. When I got there, they raised the price $50, and they couldnt even start it!!!

Sitting next to the junk quad was a mint conditioned 1984 200s. I asked if it was for sale, THE GUY SAYS $300!!!!!!!!:w00t:

This thing was beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!! bad brakes, I fixed those.

The rest is history:)

i was introduced to a trike when i was five. It was my dads first trike. It was and old 81' racing 185. He took me riding alot and then after a while we forgot about it. I pulled it out of the shed when i was 9 and we go it runnin and my dad tought me how to ride it. Couple years went by and when i was 14 my dad bought me a blown up 85' 200x. Besides the motor it was in perfect condition. I got it runnin sick. I mean i got a 12:1 wiseco, web cam and DG aluminum exauhst system. No one can keep up with it!! :D
