Yes I have driven it. It's very fast. I love it. I have a lot of motor work in my 350 odyssey but this thing really feels a lot more peppy. I'm guessing it's gotta be the power block clutch.

Oh man I'm jealous. Ive been looking for a good deal on a Pilot for years,(perfect for the wife) but when they pop up I dont have the cash. Around here they are always in good shape and you better have $5-6,000 cash to throw down, quick. Nice machine, cant wait to see more pics! Congrats:beer

Thanks man. I'm very excited to get one. Got a great price so I couldn't pass it up.

You should look into an '85 odyssey 350. Basically the same just a 350 2-stroke instead of a 400. They r more abundant and a lot cheaper.

The odyssey is air cooled and has a bit less suspension travel.

Its strange around here, most of the time when you come across an FL350 they are beat to hell and have some crappy snowmobile motor attached with bed frame rails. But the Pilots are well taken care of. There was a nice FL250 (yellow) on CL recently that would have been cool for a collecter, but I need something to use in the sand. I think the Pilots are in good shape because they were pretty expensive when new so people took better care of them? IDK. I wonder how many 89-90 Pilots were produced? Maybe I will head over to the Pilot forum and answer myself. Nice ride once again Tat!:beer

Ummm.... you do realize there are 6 days left on that auction. Not to mention Pilots are collectable.

Actually, no I didn't realize that. Thx for pointing that out. I was browsing through eBay while reading this thread and I saw that auction and thought "hey, for about the same money somebody could have a bad azz duner". Sorry for jumping the gun. I can respect the collectible aspect of the Pilot. 95% of all the toyz on this site are collectible. I did notice quite a few Odessy's up for auction at a reasonable price.

That dune buggy is amazing for sure. Wonder what it will reach in price? But what is odd to me is it has no ground clearance It's right on the ground already. How can it be a dune machine?? Looks more like a flat track racer or something.

That thing is sweet. You have quite the collection of vintage smokers going. How does that compare to, say a newer Razr in terms of power and handling?

The razr's r A LOT heavier and a bit wider too. I have never driven a razr. I at first maybe thought a razr would be more stable from weight but the pilot is lower and lower center of gravity plus more balanced with sitting in the center. It's stock motor and exhaust even and it's very very fast. I was amazed. My friend has a little gps so I'm gonna c what I can get it up to. Lol. I'll let u know.

Wow. That thing is awesome. Please inform me on that long travel rear suspension. I have seen it many times but can't find info on it. What shocks? Where do u get the subframe pieces? How much money? How much travel?

i have seen that rear set up before. i think Axis makes it, or they r Axis shocks at least.

These things are awesome. Whey did Honda stop making them? Low demand/high price I assume? Or were they another victim of the government? I know Honda's atv models available took a huge plunge around 90

i think it was low demand and sort of expansive back then. but honestly when u drive one and go on trails and ride it all day. its so much fun! it really blows that they stopped making them.

Yeh pilot came round at the wrong time in the middle of a of a down turn in the economy and the price was high about $10k in today rate so they canned it early...
as for the long travel on the pilot ....ATV racing did that one using axis shocks heres the web-site https://www.atvracing1.com/Honda_Pilot.html it also has the CR500 top end .......my rider also has a 500 top end with just works shocks (not a atv racing engine one i built myself)..... http://www.youtube.com/user/petesatc#p/a/u/0/LLhLZyXHfpM
here a pic of some of the bikes...

Wow looks awesome. What a collection! Looks a lot like my stuff but u have a fat cat and some 90's. All in such great shape.

When I bought my pilot the guy actually game a 500 kit with it. Has a spacer then the cylinder the head and the piston.
How does urs run with it?? R they worth a lot?? I'm not sure if I should use it or sell it.

petesatc

If your pilot came with a 500 kit and has a spacer plate its more likely that its a 465cc kit they used CR450 pistons.....Duncan used to make them, pretty good kits....not much between the 465 and 500 top ends.......

tattoo you are all over this site, this is my first time checking into the quad section. i had an odyssey 250. is the steering any better on the 350 or pilot. it seemed like my bike barely had the front end touching the ground, most the time it would push the front tires straight when i had the wheel turned. id have to let off the gass to make it turn. just courious. i always wanted a 350 to start and wound up with the 250 then gave up on odysseys altogether after driving mine.
