Hope it is alright that I post this here. I am a newbie and cannot access the page that I thought this should be on.
But here I go...
I have a 1983 Honda ATC 200E "Big Red". It is an automatic tranmission, I asume, as there is no clutch for shifting gears.
My problem, probably me and NOT the trike, is that the shift lever feels "low". I really have to stretch my foot downwards to upshift the gear box. Is this normal? How can you tell if the shift lever is bent? Is there a reference point in which I can judge the correct location?
Thanks for any help.

It's OK that you posted here, but you're going to want to post questions like this in the "New Member Discussion" area next time.

It is not an automatic transmission, but an automatic clutch rather. You shift the gears, but you do not operate the clutch.

The way to fix your problem is to remove the shift lever, put it to the desired location, and then re-install. Viola!

:welcome:

Sometimes the shifters will come loose and slip on the splines.
When you reset it, make sure the bolt pinches the shifter on the splines withOUT overtightening or stipping it.

Some people are able to widen the pinchpoint by running a hacksaw or similar thru the gap
to give it more room to bite.

Shifters are cheap and available, but the shift shafts are NOT fun to have to fix.

Be careful.
It doesn't take much pressure to shift these things.
My problems come when 'friends' get on them and STOMP on the shifters.
