its a good chance the motor in the atv now makes just as much power as this relic does...........gl with that.

I see you graduated from bed frames and are now onto garage door hardware for your builds

you do make it pretty easy to pick on your builds but I do give you credit for trying. P.S I hope your old man isn't too pissed his garage door does'nt work any more

Build a custom pipe and port it!! or just a custom pipe, I can have everything you need, number wise!!

Pipes are not hard to build, specially without an arc welder.. lol

how the h*!! did you know i took parts from a garage door and the quad runs and looks alot better i finished last night and rode it home i had to shorten the pipe 8 inches and i got damb lucky there seems to be less bottom end but mid range hits harder and it winds right out but i had the motor apart and cleand alot of crap out so that could be where im getting a better runing motor
im going to hold off on any porting if i have anymore power i dont think it will be controlable i alredy have problems ridding off ice or snow to dirt it likes to flipp back
ill have pics soon

Can you give me specific information on "cleaning crap out of motors"? I have some 3 wheelers I would like to run better, and now I fear the motors must be full of crap. How do I go about doing this?

bcredneck
11-16-2011, 03:33 PM
the bike sat for along time in long grass the reeds ports and crank were covered in crap and i cleaned the crap out and scraped the thick carbon build up out of the exaught port simple as that
heres the pics

bcredneck
11-16-2011, 04:11 PM
welding that sprocket on there saved me hours of work and was a nightmare to get centered it was that or make a new swing arm and rear end

thestud25
11-16-2011, 04:36 PM
Did you weld it to the output shaft, or just the other sprocket?

bcredneck
11-16-2011, 04:55 PM
i welded it to the other sprocket i wanted to be able to grind it off if i have to split the case or i put the motor in something else later

Good lord your boss must be a brave man!! lol Tell him to stay back at a safe distance......you don't want to kill or mame him and lose your job!! And that looks like a good possibility from what I see in those pictures!!:lol: Just kiddin man....you have at it.....you got some great creativity at times.....a bit dangerous but that is the thrilling part of your builds...... Remember like I say......."Anyone can do it with the right sh$%!! Do it with the wrong sh$# once...

As much as I hate to I have to agree with ya, I had a nice clean 75 DT400 and I could hardly get the front wheel off the ground... and yes it did have street gearing but it felt like it was ready to self destruct at 65 on the highway...

Just weld on a few cans of beans to the exhaust. Then you'll have all the gas you need.

you most likely have a dt-1 5 port cylinder normaly found on endro bikes it has no reeds this motor was a dt-1 but i had this yz top end and pistion for it its a dt-2 7 port with reeds so the motor is pretty much a yz 250 with street gears and has more power than a chinenes 125 could ever make

HuffieVA
11-17-2011, 03:40 PM
They had reed valves on the 400's in 75, and yes you will have more power... at least until the vibrations from your... I guess we'll call it a "One piece jack shaft" blows the case to pieces, But I don't have no doubt you'll have fun while it lasts. If that doesn't work, try scraping the resin out of your pipe and giving it another shot...

Oh come on guys, you can't honestly tell me none of you have ever wanted to throw something together, something crazy, and just ride nine hells out of it until it breaks. That's why we have dog ugly, cheap trucks that we throw around and beat up, beater trikes and the like. Only this time, someone is making the cheap and crazy themselves. That same concept is why alot of guys sleep with girls they wouldn't want their friends to see. Cheap, easy, fun, and you don't mind if something gets broke.

I say ride it like you stole it, wear your protective gear, and drag it home when it falls apart. It's all about having fun.

it snowed like crazy last night so i ended up riding this thing around town since they only plow main roads i was able to pass cars for once
then the rear sprocet hit the curb and snaped 4 bolts after pushin it home its now perimently welded in place
the next thing i may want to add is brakes there are big hills around here and 2 strokes dont have much back pressure

11-18-2011, 12:28 AM
i'm sure the garage door has alot more parts so you can get some brakes fabbed up.lol. I understand the need or want to have a suicide machine but I don't think I would want any machine I cant stop. although this thing is rigged to all hell I do respect your ambition.

Brakes - on our blasters, we have used street bike brakes. of kantana 600s and what not - you can get calipers and pedals for about $15 off ebay if you look hard enough.

...I'd port and pipe that thing still !! get more all around power, a smoother power band. And passing some one with a drag style pipe would make them giggle. Your playing with 70s ports and pipes, i imagine you could easily get 20 percent more power throughout the ENTIRE rpm range.

Seeing this thread made my day. I wanted to do something similar for a long time. Never got a tiny junker to work with. My plans was a YZ125 water cooled 1981 motor I had lying around. The giant pipes for those things are a trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro to fit in a small frame.
