I'm a bit confused? Since you didnt ask any questions all I can gather is you are mad about the rules of this site, and you want to put a four stroke piston in a beat to hell 250R. Good luck!:beer

I had an old 500cc dirt bike back in the day...the name escapes me right now, but it had 2 plugs in the head with i think 1 lead. I was told it was pretty much for a back up plug?? Although I can't see the unused plug lasting that long when it's being coated with gas/oil and not burning it away under ignition.

Welcome to the site, good luck putting that thing back together!

Don't get upset, have some patience. The rules are set up the way they are for good reason, but that's a story for another day. :D

I wouldn't use that head, it looks pretty bad.

That is definitely a 4 stroke piston and obviously you can't use it.

You'll have to dig into that rear master cylinder and see what you've got there. I'm not sure about the availability of the parts for that.

Try to find an aftermarket pipe if it's still got the stock pipe and if it's the stock carb (Like 27mm I think?) toss that and get a 34mm or so.

There is no dip stick. You check the oil by removing the check plug on the right side of the engine. You fill the case with fluid until the oil starts to seep out of the hole.

Good luck!

Cool thanks
Grabbed an 81 head off ebay, $30 shipped? cannot complain, thanks to whoever parts em out on ebay! ( as long as its not stripped -_-)
Next order will probably be crank seals, needle bearing, left cover gasket. ( from servicehonda )
I'm not usually an ebay shopper but its nice for certain things.

Honda ATC250R 1981-84 Rear Brake Caliper Rebuild Kit (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-ATC250R-1981-84-Rear-Brake-Caliper-Rebuild-Kit-/250926615743?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item3a6c644cbf)

I did a little reading up on the 2plug head, It sounded like you could ( if you fouled a plug ) Swap the plug wire over and it would get you home likely, its a backup. I guess as long as the other plugs igniting the mixture it doesnt get too fouled.

What i was interested in was that you can buy a decompression plug for the hole. My friend has a 250r, its not bad to kick over but if I get this thing running and tuned, it would be nice to just hold the decompression in, give it a kick and let go of the decomp and start it easy. I cant imagine kicking stuff over is good on the feet you know?

I will compare my 81 head with the odyssey!

And I understand how forums work and bots/webcrawlers too. whatever. I was waiting two days so I could get some responses, I wouldve liked to know that head was an odyssey a fewdays ago rather than sign up and wait, Im loosing time to tune it in nicely.

I have read that every 10°F below what the 2stroke is tuned for, you should up the jet size. Im going to have to have a pretty fat jet for the winter if i want to slide this thing on the river :)
Another thing, I have a stock pipe with a banshee stinger welded over the end. - may modify jetting
And the airbox has just some random filter and no sidecover. - may modify jetting also, less restrictive.

and also, for throwing on another carburetor, who makes intakes? id go with a mikuni vm I think if they make them in the 30mm+ size

I know you've moved past this but just to follow up:

My old bike with 2 plugs was a 500cc Montesa. The name just came to me a minute ago. here's a pic. Hopfully it's big enough because you can see the 2 plugs in the head.

My buddy ran a '86 piston (I forget the size, it was about 15 years ago) in his '84 with a spacer plate under the cylinder. I can't remember if any special machining had to be done to the piston to get it to work.

I don't know about the 85-86 piston, I doubt it would work without some serious mods.

The 250R engine is the same from 81-84 with the exception of the shifter shaft. The first gen (81-82) has a longer shaft.

I think he used a 302cc big bore '86 piston and a spacer plate on his '84. Now that I think of it I don't remember any mods to the piston, but don't hold me to that.

I finally found a 72mm piston. Last overbore wiseco makes.
Friend said, do it, then if you blow it up we'll use a yam 360 piston and sleeve it, and space it out ;P Half the cost of one of those kits on the market he says. (hes real good)]

Had me looking up Wiseco parts catalog
Wiseco Connecting Rod Kits (http://www.cheapcycleparts.com/products/18023-wiseco-wpr124-engine-other-wiseco-connecting-rod-kits)
Wiseco seal kit Seal Kit - 28x50x8 & 35x58x11mm (http://www.accu-products.com/wiseco/seals/seal-engine/prod_32334.html)
Main Bearing Kit - (2) 30 x 72 x 19mm (http://www.wiseco.com/ProductDetail.aspx?AppID=&ItemID=BK5003&ModelYear=&ModelID=)
Wiseco WPP3003 Clutch Basket (http://www.amazon.com/Wiseco-WPP3003-Clutch-Basket/dp/B0050FZBRC)
WB1064 part # is for..
WISECO Crankshaft including the following
1X WISECO B1005 - TOP END BEARING 16 x 21 x 22.5mm
1X WISECO B1048 - CRANK PIN BEARING - 22 x 29 x 16.8mm
1X WISECO B5012 - Main Bearing - 25 x 55 x 15mm
1X WISECO B5013 - Main Bearing - 25 x 62 x 16mm
1X WISECO W5765 - THRUST WASHERS ( 2 ) 22mm ID x 1mm
1X WISECO W5797 - CRANK PIN - HOLLOW - 22mm x 56.4mm
1X WISECO WB1027 - Bottom End Gasket Kit 1988 - 2006 Blaster ...

...

anyway
got a 72mm off amazon, 140 shipped, the person who is boring out the cylinder said they could get me a kit for $190, i almost went for it, im an idiot.
good game.

I was freaking out because the machine shop told me that they could source a piston for it, and i said i would do it ( because I could do it on the cheaps)
Then i go online ( mostly ebay ) and I could only find a .80 over for a 85-8X
What i did was go to wiseco's catalog pdf and found their part #
then amazon had it. woot woot.

Its coming together.

Thanks for the post on the heads, I really have never seen those, but it seems like a good idea.

My 200s has gone through 2 rear carriers. Got to fix one of them and make it good.
They sell kits on ebay for ~30$ shipped, should I go for one of them or am i better off going with hondas?

From supplyhonda
BEARING (6007)
96150-60070-10 002 $18.13 $14.16 X 2 $28.32
22 DUST SEAL (42X62X7)
91252-958-013 002 $15.51 $12.11 x2 $24.22

AND it says there is a drivers side oring on the carrier in between the bearing and seal? never noticed that
O-RING (31.2X1.9)
91307-PA9-003 001 $2.43 $2.07
Total cost *$54.60 + shipping ( have a big order going though so i dont mind that )

Or just go with an ebay kit for $30 shipped unless they suck?
also, how can i clear out the bottom of my crankshaft to make sure there is no debris in there? its really oily in there and i just want it clean though. tip it upside down and ?

Still haven't ordered parts yet. Want to get a good order in.
Thinking of going with a jet too, they got
142, 145, 148, & 152 jets
JET, MAIN (#152)
99101-GHB-1520 001 $8.91 $6.96

I have a stinking '132.5' right now, that seems really small, and its winter, and my filter box doesnt have a side cover and its like a wannabe k&n filter - hence I need a fat jet

if its too big, i can solder it shut and drill it out to a slightly smaller size ( check it with a caliper)

should i get the idle jet or air jet or whatever else these carbs have? I dont quite know the others ones, just the main jet.
