Just picked up this bad boy today! its a 1976 pacer that was given to a dealer as a promotion. Most of the dealers got the Gremlin go karts though. and unfortunately the chassis is not original, however that could be a blessing in disguise as now i have decided to make a hot rod out of it. Anyone have any reasonable small engine swap ideas? (small meaning not a hayabusa engine or snowmobile engine etc lol)

Put a liquid 2 stroke 125 engine in it! (like a newer CR, KX, YZ, whatever your brand is) Small, light, and with the correct setup can pack quit a punch! DO IT!

im trying to avoid a shifter kart, but that may be an option down the road. i would LOVE to do a JR dragster motor haha

Without a shifting motor, your gonna be limited to tiller engines, brigs and straton engines and the like. It will take more work to install most engines to that frame then it would be to fashion a shift mechanism. C'mon, you know shifting is fun!!!!!!!!!!

thats true, i kind of like the idea of an animal engine in there, but man would it be sweet to fly through the gears in a 2 stroke pacer haha!

why not an odyssey engine? fl250 should be plenty for that little thing.

A cr500 motor with a 580 big bore, a banshee motor, maybe even a 350x motor. Plenty of grunt and lots of fun.

yeah right now a 125 dirtbike motor seems to be my best bet. and i was thinking of painting it up like the mirth mobile from wayne's world, but to an amc fan(im not one though) that would be like finding a tiger and spray painting all the original plastics or something or taking that 250R out the crate and riding it haha
Maybe you could do something like this:

Words CANNOT describe how much I need that R1 cart. I just so happen to also have an R1 engine sitting in my garage..........
