250SX Kicker Problem

The electric starter works, but the kick does not. The kick start moves out of the case about 3/4" when you try kicking it - as in moves to the right if you are sitting on the bike. I have read that these kickers have a common problem with the one-way clutch, but it this something more than that? Thoughts? Thanks for any help ya'll can offer!!

I have never personally seen a bad kicker on an 85 es or sx

Most common on the regular 'x' models for sure.

I have heard it IS something to look at when looking to buy an sx or es.
Maybe the search key will help?
If you can't access the search key, let me know and I'll try to find it for you.

Manuals can be found in the 'world class help' section and you may get some insight
by looking at bikebandit.com.
They post exploded parts diagrams.
Maybe some snap ring will be obvious.

Never heard of the kicker actually coming out of the case.
Only a couple bolts to remove to see what's going on behind the side cover.
