Working on an '85 tri-zinger, which some of you may have seen in my "Ridin' Pics" thread. Long story short fuel isn't filling the bowl. I did notice 2 things before putting the bowl back on the carb. 1: the pin on the spring loaded needle has alot of travel...more than I've ever seen on any spring loaded type needle. 2: where the needle sits on the float seems to be worn, possibly adding to the problem. Both of these issues are leading to the float not dropping far enough, when the bowl is empty, to allow fuel to enter. So I priced out a new float ($22) and needle ($12).
So my overall question is this...for the price of the 2 parts needed I found carbs on ebay( http://www.ebay.com/itm/Carburetor-YAMAHA-Tri-Zinger-YT60-YT-60-Carb-/220787608652?hash=item3367f78c4c&item=220787608652&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr :wondering http://www.ebay.com/itm/Carburetor-YAMAHA-YT-60-YT60-84-TRI-ZINGER-Trike-Carb-/190533870632?hash=item2c5cb42428&item=190533870632&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr ) for a couple of bucks more. Are these junk? I'm looking for some first hand experience. Thanks.
P.S. I just replaced the petcock and gas cap...both were needed for other reasons than fuel delivery problem, just incase that was in your thoughts of replacing.
