does any one know of any paint that is gas proof or a clear coting that i could use over it i keep having to paint my 84 200X tank white but it loks like cr*p
any help would be great

No such thing as gas PROOF paint, but any paint with hardener in it is gas resistant. Any auto body or tractor implement with a hardener with it should work out fine for you, but you will want to let it cure out. Sounds like you are using a rattle can which will not work in an environment with solvents, you will need to spray it with a quality paint or clear with hardener.

you are correct, you need to use an automotive style paint best being a 2 stage basecoat-clearcoat and a couple extra layers of clear would help your cause, while you will use an activator in your paint I would also use a quick flash thinner, and if your tank is plastic not use as much clear but you will need to add a flex agent and possibly a fish eye eliminator in it since the plastic will be contaminated from the gas...
