Never had a 250sx so any advice would be great! Obviously buying on non running machine is a risk. I made a counter offer which he is seriously considering, so if he accepts I can't see where I could go wrong. At worst I could part it out and recoup my money and then some. What do you all think? http://daytona.craigslist.org/mcy/2728915072.html

Nice..if it's not siezed, the transmission shifts thru the gears and the rear differential isn't full of water/mud it's good.

A bit of cleaning, carb tear-down and new fluids..you got a winner!

I'd grab it!!

Thanks all. Picking it up in the morning for $300. Only so much to see on a non running bike but I figure it's a no brainer either way.

Well picked it up. Original owner with documentation and manual. Doesn't seem to be seized, cranks over fine. I have to clean the tank, carb, change fluids and plug. Needs a battery, air filter, rear brake light, front headlight strap, either a new tire or tube and possibly a rear fender since a piece broke off but I'll live with it for now. Overall it's in very good condition for the money as long as it runs. Here's some pics. Can't wait to get it running.

Well she runs like a dream. I have to clean and coat the inside of the tank though (a little rusty from sitting for five years). Still need a few misc things, but she runs and that was the main concern. No smoke, purrs like a kitten.

you got a killer deal on that. looks great! too bad about the fender though. very poor design on the rear fender, trunk by honda imo! i rarely see sx's with non cracked fenders in the trunk area!!

I guess from the looks Maier fenders do not have a trunk? It would be nice to replace them with used oem but I doubt I will find them anytime soon in good shape.

Just got the Certificate of Origin and original owners manual in the mail today. He couldn't find it the day I bought it. Thought it was pretty neat on top of the deal!

Yeah I saw a OEM on ebay with seat for $300. No thanks. I don't believe the trunk or flaps were included. I wonder why Maier never built them with a trunk or at least a place to put one? Even with the Maier you have to have the flaps which I'm lacking the left side anyway. I'm sure something will pop up here or somewhere for sale.
