HI all,

I have just bought a 1983 Model honda atc 110 that was an unfinished project.

The problem I have is that the engine has been made up of parts from different engines, the head is the original atc 110 but the block is a C90E and just seems to be a real botch job.

I have seen 110 and 125cc semi automatic lifan engines for sale and the seller says they will fit the C90,

Is it possible to use these engines that have no front mount on the ATC 110.

Regards

Chris

I have a Lifan 140 in my 70 and it has no mount on the cylinder head. It just bolts in by 2 bolts in the case. I cant see why the head mount is absolutely necessary. It might have something to do with the amount of torque that the 110 motor puts out in low range.

The head mount on a atc90/110 is needed because its part of the structural integrity of a stock steel stamped frame . No head mount being used will break the frame at the bottom of the tank area .

Would it not be possible to bolt the front mount piece from the origional engine onto the Lifan, and make a bracket that fits that?

Those chinese motors are all 70cc based motors / mounts and the top mount most likley wont swap out to a atc90/110 style motor .

Anybody ever put one of these Chinese motors in an aftermarket 90 frame like a bandido or nicholson do you think it still needs the head mount with these stronger frames?

Old thread, but I'd like to know too. Anyone done this?

Why not just get a 110 CDI motor? You should be able to pick one up fairly cheap, much cheaper than a Chinese one

As Mike said the chinese motors are all 70cc based motors. The motor mounts will not line up without making some modifications.
If it was an easy swap you would see more people doing it. Not just putting them in atc 70 frames.

I'm a newbie. But, where would you find one?
