Just purchased a 1984 YTM 200e Yamahauler. Earlier this year we acquired a larger forested property in the country and we wanted a utiltiy/fun compact off road vehicle. Why this unit? Reliable brand, good price, in original condition and in excellent shape for the year. As it is a shaft driven 4 stroke it offers a bit more durable grunt for utility applications versus some rather nice 2 stroke models we've seen. Why an ATC over an ATV? Research suggested that a 3 wheeler would be better for use in snow as compared to a 2 wheel drive 4 wheeler and used pricing was far more reasonable, never mind a 4 wheel drive.
Still trying to figure out and understand the legalities for use outside of my private property. Any advice and links to information would be appreciated.
Cheers
Andi

Welcome, and nice looking machine. I have a feeling this be only the first of many trikes you buy. It just seems to happen like that. A little friendly advice. Please go over the 'Forum Rules' as posting riding pics with out wearing a helmet is a no, no. I suspect the second picture be removed soon. http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php/65055-The-RULES
Thanks for the reply, advice and link coolpool. Read the safety section and seems you may be correct. Wow .... is that how far we have come? I strongly believe in individual liberty and struggle with laws that encroach on my freedom. Not that I don't believe in safety and I certainly understand that there are no rights without responsibilities, but I'm a responsible adult and my choices are not advice to others, at best they are my opinion. No wonder we are in this global mess, all this subjective angst is only a further dumbing down of society. You can legislate ignorance and stupidity just as well as you can prevent people form dying.
All the best out west

Hey Andi, Welcome to the site! Where are you from in Ontario? I'm in Oshawa.
I'm at the west end, in Etobicoke. My country property is near Alliston.

Nice looking machine. I got one for my wife and seem to ride it more than her. I was suprized when I took it through a deep stream the first time as it wanted to float down stream. Im about 190lbs and just wasnt expecting it. Lots of fun to be had with these!

Nice YTM, welcome to 3ww.
Thanks for the warm welcome. Would anybody venture to give me an idea how a 125 or 175 - 2 Stroke machine would compare or differ to this one? I've always liked the 2 Stroke dirt bikes for their responsiveness, a 4 stroke is likely more utility including pulling things.

Like the trike Andi..
I have been casually considering adding a Yamaha to my group..the YTM 200e/225dx/225dr are tops on my list of machines. Hell, everything else has past thru my hands this past year..
Maybe get to see it run some day, like the spring ride we talked about.
Hey dougspcs,
That maybe a possibility, but I would have to get another machine. How do you think a YTC175 (2 stroke) would fair on a ride like that? We've been hiking, snowshoeing and dog sledding up their before, but that kind of a ride would be new for us. I've beaten a dirt bike through the bush however. How common are women on these outings?
