ive always wanted to 3 wheeler. i picked up a KLT 160 awhile back complete for $50. it was junk and the tranny was messed up.. way too much work on this small 3 wheeler so i sold it... i wanted another 1 so i traded a snowmobile (not running) for my 1985 Honda 250sx. when i got it the plastics were cracked and pieces missing.. also the gas tank so sooo rusty and had alot of holes. it has a brand new carb and runs tho.. so i sand blasted the gas tank. POR-15 sealed the inside of the tank. POR-15 the outside of the tank then rino lined the outside. also my dad owns a blow molding company so i took a thick piece of plastic and made the piece that was perfect for the missing part of the rear fender. then for the "mud flap" piece on the back fender i used a vw fox mud flap i had. then got red plastic fusion paint and painted the rear fenders. everything worked out even tho its kind of getto. but the thing runs perfect. reverse works great. lights. everything. heres some pics i have. im going to get the pics of the plastic repairs i made and post them tomorrow.

Welcome aboard!

Nice looking fabrication, and creative. :beer

I don't know if you have had a chance to read through the site rules, but posting riding pics or vids depicting a helmetless rider is frowned on here. Not looking to start a big helmet/no helmet discussion here. Just a friendly heads-up for a new member. :)

Hitches might be just bolted on.
Hey, nice to have a plastics person around.
Everyone wants 250 es side covers.

How did you like the por 15?
think it would plug small pinholes? I tested some on a rusty outdoor woodstove and it looks like it's bulletproof.
Makes so much more sense than some sort of coating to me.

May I ask your rear tire size? I like the geometry and happen to be in the market for some.

Welcome, but be careful.
If you don't keep these things 'hidden', they tend to multiply, kinda like leaving duck decoys out.

Oh, and make sure the gear oil in the rear axle differential is clear and no water.
It's only like 3 ounces.
Manuals are free in the world class help section and the owners manuals and sales brochures
are just fun to look at.

Nice work.
The hardest part is keeping only one.

--theres not alot of SX's on here? are they good in the 3wheeler world?

--es side covers?

--the por-15 worked great! i use it alot right my restorations.(snowmobiles, dirtbikes, cars, etc) the por-15 did cover the small pin holes. i was well worth the $23 can. i used it inside and outside and not a single leak.

--the tire size ill have to check tomorrow and alot take some more pics. (of my plastic repair, dumb trailer hitch, etc) the hitch is welded on.

-- how do i check the gear oil in the rear end and what weight and kind of oil should i use? (i will be getting a manuel tho)

-- what should i do or can do to my 250sx? any mods or anything to make it better? i only has a new carb and uni filter.( which im afraid it will suck in water, i almost wanna make a snokel kit or somthing)

thank you

basic things should always be checked- tires (tread, pressure, etc.), oil wear and level, chain slop (if the SXs have chains?), spark plugs and all electrical components, and make sure bearings arent too loose or worn. im sure theres more to check that i cant think of right now. and some others might correct me, but thats what i check.

thanx for the input. i love the machine. not too fast but goes anywhere! ive had 4x4 4wheelers and everything else and this doesnt compare! its like a stand up jetski vs. a sit down... way more fun. i wanna keep this as a woods machine but want a 350x.... or somthing as a project all tho i have many projects heh

sx is shaft driven. i needa check the gear oil and replace it anyways. but how? and with what weight oil? idk yet

Hey I just got one of these three days ago!. So cool looking. Mine is a sort of a barn find. This lady bought this new in 85. Parked it in a shed in 87...she had kids. It sat until 2009 and her sons pulled it out...rolled it once then someone stole the CDI. Basically mint with a few dings. I can't wait to ride it!..yours looks sick...love it..great job!

They will slide right in, however you will need to remove the old steering stop, and install new ones unless you want to ding up the tank, or you have a plastic tank, still suggest putting on some new steering stops.

Check out my photo album i took pics of all that awhile ago you will see what i mean. Love SX's she looks great.

Welcome aboard.

The steering stops i welded on the frame, they are home made(used some keystock and cut them down). The dual headlight setup is a 350x headlight assy..

Now i have another question.. You got the whole 200x front end correct? not just the fork tubes right? You need the triple tree and the fork tubes to make it work, if you just got the fork tubes it will not be correct. when you get the whole front end the pics of the steering stops will jump right out at ya.. lol.. you'll see what i mean after you slap it in there.

Hey what's up guys I'm new I just trades a moped for a 1985 klt160a pretty damn clean too it's getting to much fuel now cause I guess the clip that hold the float needle to the float is now missing but me and my dad have a couple of ideas on fixing it but over then that just had to order a petcock and a carb gasket put some air in the tires and give it a good clean thing is really badass
