Jason, I am already planning and trying to motivate the troops down here to commit. I will be there barring a job change, death in the family, or Zombie Apocalypse!! I have been waiting for this thread to start.

I will be there again with my jug of "Slap Shot" ready for all that want a sip. I have practiced and will be well rehearsed for "Trailer Karaoke", My Big Red will again rip the frame out from under any square that dare pull up to Herk N' Jerk, I will be ready to drink Margaritas from the Kings of Blenders that the boys from the south bring, I will be ready to drink the shine at the Shoe Tree, and more than anything I will have a spot ready on the trailer to bring home the raffle prize!!!!!!!!!

I can't wait! I've been thinking about it for months, but have yet to start preparing.

I am looking forward to this year even more than last. Where last year was my first year I was just getting to know a lot of the people. Now I know who some of the people are and I also know what to expect.

One thing is for sure, I am doing the whole week this year. It went by way to fast last time!

I am ready to roll!!!!!!!!!!!!I wanted to camp at the shoe tree last year, but it was not in the cards, and I now realize it never will be - if it rains - I am basically stuck until it dries out! I am however thinking about camping out at the shoe tree for one night this year. Load up a bag of sleep, and a cooler, and head for the tree. Who is in for a wonderful slumber party say - Thursday night. Pillow fights and pajamas optional! 12 drink minimum! Regulators...........................Mount Up!!!!!!!

I have few questions about trike fest.

1) June 22-23 = Friday & Saturday....so I assume this means everyone pulls out Sunday?
2) What if any facilities are available? Food? Vendors? Jiffy john? Electric? Water? Used to camping, just want to know what I need.
3) Is there any "schedule of events"?

Any advise for preparing for a possible 1st time trip would be greatly appreciated!

Bathhouse, showers, gas station, beer, essentials, etc 1 mile away in town. People typically pull out Sunday. MX races Friday, drag races Saturday. People will be there throughout the entire week.

The camping fee is so miniscule I wouldn't even worry about that. It's like $14 a day or something. And yes, everybody camps on site. It is a camp ground/ORV park. Plenty of room for all. I'm fairly certain you can run a generator, but if it's loud you may want to be off by yourself. No need to get your neighbors all riled up.

If it rains be prepared for a mess. The clay there turns into a slick peanut-buttery substance that makes it hard to move in almost any vehicle, and once the stuff dries on your machine good luck getting it cleaned off. The substance has affectionately been termed as "Clayment". It only rained briefly last year right when I was getting ready to pull out and hit the highway home. I was parked right near the entrance and I did a whole lot of sliding before I got out. Hence the tire chain comment I made before.

I would suggest you try to bring everything you can, to not rely on the local venues. They have the essentials, but its limited. There is another town with more to choose from about 20 minutes out, but any time away from the event is dangerous! Who knows what you'll miss!

Generators are fine, we have used them as well. Just be conscious of your surroundings, nothings worse then having to listen to someone elses generator 15 feet from away from your tent while your trying to sleep. It will be HOT AND STICKY in the day, and cool at night. Hoping maybe we can have a river year again! Ay Tim? :D

Need to get my special build done. Got the rest of the fleet just about ready, gonna be a good year!

Spray the underside of all your fenders with furniture polish (yes, I am serious). It shows admirable foresight, and will save you hours of hosing off when you get home.

There are generally 2 porta-johns on site. Also, they have been leaving the bathrooms (3 crappers, 4 shower stalls) open all night in recent years.
I can't stress enough to clean up after yourself in the bathroom - we have a great repuation with park management and it needs to stay that way.
The leave them open only as a courtesy for TrikeFest and Pete will get surly if they get trashed.

There is a pizza place that will deliver to the front gate, but shopping in town is VERY limited, so bring enough that you will not run out of food or beer.
They also have a snack shop with dogs, burgers, and breakfast food, but hours are pretty limited.

Get there as early as possible. Fri-Sat are packed with events and you will want time for free riding and admiring trikes (that is what Wed-Thrusday are for).
Loose agenda is:
Fri - noon - MX (11 classes)
Fri PM - Devil's Backbone hillclimb
people mostly congregate near the drag strip for grudge racing and dialing in their racers before sunset
Sat afternoon - Drag races
Sat PM - group picture
Sat @ dusk - Award ceremony
Sat night - Herk & Jerk (unsanctioned event)
at some point there may be an informal group ride too.

Of course this is all weather dependant. We also post signs near the front gate with event times if they change.

Jake there is sooo much info on this, you really should take a look before asking. I'm not trying to be a jerk, it's just that the info has been posted over and over and over.

June 23rd and 24th are the big days, but some guys (like myself) will be there for almost the entire week. It's at Haspin Acres in Laurel, IN, and that's where it's been held for many years now.

Also for those of you who run 2 strokes..At last check, the small station downtown in Haspin, DOES NOT SELL Premium gas. Only 87 Octane. To get Premium fuel you have to drive back North for about 15 miles to get it.
Make sure you bring plenty of Gas if you need other than regular fuel.

last year was the first time I think I have been there when we didnt get dumped on durring trikefest. It usually rains durring trikefest for like 1/3 or 1/2 time time making the absolute biggest freaking mess. Bikes, camping sites, equipment, EVERYTHING ends up covered in mud. We packed up everything saturday night in 2011 and moved my vehicle to parking lot by the exit so I could just roll out. Def recomend you do that if you know rain is coming right before you leave. Cant count how many people I have watched spinning all four trying to climb the hill out with a trailer full of toys

Ok gonna throw this out here any see if there is any interest. I plan on leaving from my place in the wee morning hrs on Thursday June 21st (like 3 or 4 am). Mapquest is saying 9 1/2 hrs to get there. We all know that means probably more like 12 till you get potty breaks and food stops not to mention any construction or accidents that may pop up. I live outside of Red Lion, PA which is south central PA. I have a 6 x 10 enclosed trailer that should accommodate (2) trikes easily. Is there anyone who would like to share the ride, gas, and tolls? I would prefer to have someone willing to meet up the wkd before to get their trike and large items loaded so the day of departure it's pretty much jump in and go. If there is no interest from anyone to do that I may be willing to pick some one up en-route as long as they are not to far off said route. Pm me if interested and we can see if we can work something out. I know this may be a little early to plan, but hoping to have some company for this long ride:D. Here's a map of the route I will be taking. RT 76 (toll) to 70 (toll??)

Pictures and video do it ZERO justice. While many have climbed it, 99% have not even attempted it.

After 5 prior years of building up the nerve, I finally did it last year on my stock 250R. I've yet to see a Big red or SX make it from the bottom. I've done the top section on my Big Red with ease, but not the entire hill. PS Jensen CHEATS, one time he put the ATC70 in his pocket, walked a few feet, then pulled it back out and hopped back on it. On a side note, I did see Rusty and Garry Crum pull a rock crawler truck up it using just themselves and a tow strap! What a sight to see!

The videos don't show the tough part. The big rock ledges are in the first 100 feet. If you can make that, you got it.
It's the same small handfull of people that make it up every year. Having been there dozens of times, I wouldn't even consider attempting it from the bottom -- EVER.
I am pretty sure I can make the top part on my 200S, though. Still haven't summoned the testicular fortitude to try.

I'm tempted to say I want to give 'er a go on my SX this year, but I don't want to be held to that. I really like billy-goating technical hills on trikes and was tempted to hit the backbone last year on my Tecate. There was no way I was going to try with the KX jug on my Tecate though. If my KXT jug were on there I would have considered it much more heavily. Yes, it really does make that much of a difference with the KXT jug. That KX jug has ZERO torque. I tend to do well in hill climbs because I'm like 150 lbs too. Hehe

Unless something changes there are 3 of us maybe 4 heading up for the entire week. Unfortunately we may have one square making the ride, unless we get him a big boy trike to ride before then. I am pretty sure that I am bring an old Military covered trailer to haul the trikes with and to sleep in.

Dude where did you get that trailer and can I get one

http://www.govliquidation.com/

They are kind of an oddball setup. They pintle hook is way up in the air and they're an air over hydraulic (if I remember correctly) brake setup. You need glad-hands like a big rig to have the brakes work on those trailers.

They made smaller versions that were lower and towed better behind the Humvees and CUCV's (Blazers). I'm not sure what those had for brakes but I'm sure it would be easier to tow behind a pickup than the one Jon posted.

My buddy has two. I cannot remember the exact dimensions. John is right on the set up. We have to figure out a way to convert the tongue to a ball hitch. He sold the truck that he originally towed them with. We will see if we can get it to work. If not we will pull the flat bed and tent camp again.

Most of the campsites at the shoetree, or over by the pond? Between my wife and I we're packing at least a 1/5 of Crown Royal per night, plus a 30 pack of JTM's. My pops delivers for Mikesells, so at least a case of chips. Can't wait for to tell my wife," Hold my drink hunny, Watch this!"

Most camp by the pond. some brave souls camped back in the woods along the main trail. Ill bet they had fun getting out after the early Sunday morning thunderstorm last year.

I think we will play it be ear. If the forecast is dry for the weekend ( I doubt it) we will head down to the shoetree. Otherwise, we wil try to find a spot around the pond somewhere. Come Friday I'm sure it will be packed. Came across a cheap little grill yesterday. Hoping that this guy on craigslist still has this 3 room tent for $60 on Friday when I get paid. We are gonna pack at least a half truck of firewood, hope the weather is kind.

I found my 140 Lifan powered 70 has a busted right crank case. Going to order a new one tonight for it.

I still have to
fix the 140/70 engine case, and install new seat cover
get both stock 70's running better
make a grab bar/rear rack combo on the 85 200x, and new seat cover
new cam chain, sprockets, wheel bearings, and drive chain on the 84 200x

I got all of the parts to fix them except for the engine case for the 140.

now if I can just get a day or 12 off of work the get everything ready that would be great. If I have enough time, I might rebuild the QA50 in time for trikefest.

My ATC5 pipe, silencer, and flange all finally came today after a LONG wait. I am getting a pair of stainless wide pegs from 250rRoostmaster this Friday, and came across a polish front hub that should arrive in the mail shortly. Some buddys and I are taking a trip to Haspin this saturday. A 400ex, Scrambler 400, trx250, and my 86r. Only about an hour one way for us. I will try to stop riding for a few quick minutes and grab some pics.

As far as I know - I'm ready to roll to Haspin. the bikes I'm taking are all in order and ready to rip. I'm taking my 450, a special 250R (no teaser pics - unveiling at TF), and my street legal CRF450X. My special lady friend is coming with so I will bring my Recon 250 for her to ride. It will be mint!!!!!!! I might have a drag bike by then, I might not, time will tell - and I'm not sure how I will get it there.................

I bled the front brakes on the 250r and did some more laps around the neighborhood to continue the break in. Feels scary riding with no fenders or seat lmfao. Tim, be prepared for some Slap Shot,
I'll wear black and white stripes and Ref.

Herk and Jerk,
You know I'm all about it. We just had a huge laugh the other day reminiscing about Garry Crum pulling against a 450 sport quad. His words are forever burned into my head. When the 450 could not make headway against Gary and his Big Red, the 450 just kept going thru the gears at full RPMs. Garry's words were: "Tell him to stop, that rubber is hot!!!!!!" as the 450 threw hot pieces of tire rubber all over Garry!!! - LOL

and a twomping in the Big Red motocross!! Maybe even some "Shoe Tree Confessionals"!!
I'm always good for some Shoe Tree Confessionals. It's a very intimate time when we site down back there with the hippies singing "Cum By Yah"!

For those who aren't quite up to the challenge of the backbone (myself included!) the creek bed is a pretty tough ride that won't likely kill you if you stall. I highly recommend it. Somewhere around here is a video from last year of a group of us climbing it.

I am overwhelmed, still haven't found an enclosed trailer to pull yet. I want the enclosed so I can sleep in it instead of a tent. I have a 16 ft newer car trailer but then I would have to pitch a tent. I brought my father in-laws last year but he sold it on me. Then I have a ton of work still to do to at least 3 of the trikes I am bringing. Really just easy time consuming things-nothing major. On top of all of the work, I have a 7 month old that needs much more attention and care since he had a lung removed last week.(He is doing well) just needs a little more tlc than normal. And to make it all worse, I have been working over 12 hours. Looks like its going to be another last minute round up once again. BUT its all worth it. Been waiting all year since I left last year.
