Looking for a recommendation to ship an ATC 70 from me to another 3WW member. I am sure someone has shipped one before. I would like to get a quote.

Thanks for your help.

From where in Indiana (zip code) to where (zip code)? How much does it weigh? You'll also need them to tell you the shipping class. The class it ships under dictates the pricing. Shipping something with a fuel tank (even if empty) usually requires a HAZMAT tag and thus, costs more.

Try FedX ground. (Used to be American Freightways but FedX bought em a year or 2 ago.)

Among other duties, I oversee a shipping department for a big industrial supplier.

The package is 175lbs.

FedEX and UPS only take 150lbs in their ground service.

I checked with a local shipper, from Indiana they want $272 to package and ship it to one destination a few states away from me, and $391 to Florida. This would be done by motor freight, class 100. Seems a little high.

Any thoughts? Surely someone has shipped one of these buggers.

Ups...Yah, 150lbs's max but I ship skids that weight 700-900lbs on FedEx as well as recieve large palleted shipments from em.

Anyways. That's about right with no discount. Most companies that ship often get a big discount off their "list" pricing. Ours is 60% off with most freight companies. When we estimate for quoting, we figure $55 per 100lbs. Using that, yours should of been around

55x1.75=96.25+60%=$240.00 (You had $272.00)

Know anyone that works at a place where you can add it to their daily p/u and just pay them? That's your best bet. That way, you get to share the discount. Other than that, it costs pretty good to ship heavy stuff.

Take the front end off at the gooseneck, take the motor off, and ship it in 3 packages via UPS, and your probably looking at under $125.

I have shipped a small dirt bike (xr80r) through UPS in 2 boxes. One box was the frame and engine the other was the front end and wheels. I think it cost $80 to ship it from NY to Colorado (if I remember right).

I shipped a Tri-zinger in 2 boxes 1000 miles for $70 or so. I would say a atc70 would fit into 2 boxes.
1 box should hold: 3 Tires, seat & fenders, and rear axle.
The rest should fit into the other box. You will need to unbolt the handlebars and foot pegs to make the box small as possible.
