HondaATC....if you turn that R it to a MXer I will have to hunt you down!!! That thing is SWEET!! Was that the one, that was on Ebay a few months ago??? If you used that for MX it would be such a waste...

OldSchoolin86
11-20-2002, 08:53 PM
Turning that into a MXer would be like choping up a nice 3 wheeler. That just wouldn't be right.

Billy Golightly
11-20-2002, 09:12 PM
Yup, Its mine. I've had it 2 years now. I don't really want to turn it into an MXer but I don't have any other quads, and I do not plan on selling this one. I've had alot of people that "want" it but I'm not going to let go of it.

All you need to do to "set it up for motocross" is get a set of 18 inch Turf Tamers on another set of rims. Thats all I do to mine, and Im very competitive. Some guys put $10,000 in mods on there, but at the end of the day, being the best rider counts most. Race it as it is, and get some experince and then you can decide what mods youll want to do if any. I could do better lap times on the track with wider A-Arms, and an extended axle, but Id be sorry I put any of that crap on the first time I hit the woods. And yes, Ive heard that the wind drag on your front fenders slows you down, so you have to cut them off. I still have from fenders, and I get good holeshots, and I can even ride in the mud, and turn without getting a face full of it. Sure mods are an advantage, but you can be competitive with a stock ride in amateur motocross, and Id recommend anybody run a few races and figure out what would best help them, before sinking a dime into modifications and trick stuff.

By the way, Im running a Harescramble Sunday, so Im quite happy I never "set up for motocross".

TimSr,

I guess I should have been a bit more clear on my definition of setting it up for motocross. I'm not planning on spending $5,000 on it in after market parts I do not need. Setting it up for motocross is the basics. Wheels, tires, kill switch, nerf bars, and a good lowend pipe along with shock revalves. I am a pretty big dude and have no problem bottoming out my R on my home made track and around on the property I ride at. The shocks getting revalved are a must. I do not plan on cutting up the stock plastics, Infact I would rather have some old dull Maier plastics so I won't be running my nice stock ones into races.

Bought new in 2000. New OEM plastic,paint,oil inj block off,new top end(stock),boyesen reeds,uni filter,400ex bars,ceet cover,shock covers,AC f bumper,AC swingarm bumper,DG grab bar,modified rear brakes(works like hydro brakes),not pictured >>>18x11x8 Holeshots on IRC rims.
Blasters are usually underestimated. Its no 90mph drag racer but in the woods it can beat just about anything with the right rider on it.

Whats going on with those tires Jim?

Tri-Z_Jim
11-21-2002, 11:29 PM
I saw them at walmart so I bought them.I might race indoor flat track this winter.I still need nerf bars and tether switch and a few other minor things to race. Those tires hook up great on pavement. In the snow the blaster gets stuck on flat ground with those tires.

My new and for now main ride is my 97 Arctic Cat Bearcat 454 2wd, I got it last Saturday and haven't even really ridden it yet.
My other 4-wheeler is my beater/piece of sh!t 86 TRX 125. I hate it but love it at the same time. It sucks to ride in the woods cause it slow, but it's fun cause I don't care what happens to it. Me and my brother took turns doing doughnuts with it on our asphalt driveway this afternoon. We had to check the oil constantly cause it burns so much, so we just rode it all afternoon with the seat off.

Doesn't make much sence to post a 3 wheeler in the quad forum under a quad pic thread.

Wow! Yamaha 250R killer! That looks very well done. Is that a Blaster front end? Too bad it would cost a fortune to ship from UK, because Id kill for one of those frames to build mine on!

Sean,

I think that Mojave is a damn good quad! Not a POS,,,,,far from that. Heard it has a very quick four stroke motor in it.

I got this engine for free. I am not sure what it is, but.....I have an idea:demon: It was tossed in with a QUAD I just bought. Take a look, let me know what ya think. I gonna sell this one,(engine) after I decide what, if any, parts I may need from it. Oh ya, there is a spare side case (clutch side) for this one too.

Cool find. That engine looks liek a 125cc 2 stroke. From what I see it is for sure a 2 stroke, and the displacement should be on the right side of the engine. That Tecact 4 isn't TO bad, can I ask what you paid for it? Those machines are pretty rare.
