Here's what you get when you combine a whole bunch of free steel tube, a kijiji find of some axles, wheels and tires, about three days of good man cave time and a welder.:beer:beer
Been planning a trailer build for a couple of years now and everything fell into place this winter when I found the running gear cheap.
Frame is all 2x4x HSS tube with a little 2x2 at the rear, axles and tires are 6000# units off a 2 yr old fifth wheel all springs and hangers are new. Trailer will have a 18'x8 deck, 12,000 lb GVWR, built in ramp storage at the rear, all LED lights and be ready to roll this spring as our main ATV hauler. With the whole family into it now the 14' enclosed was not big enough, I always had to remove the topper to get the fourth machine anywhere, not any more...............

That should do the trick!!! What are you going to use for the deck?

We used 2x6 PT lumber on my brothers a couple years ago, but I'm going to look into some steel checker plate. I still have all the deck cross members to add before the final deck.

Nice job Ross! I would lean more to the wood deck instead of the steel. I think it would be harder to keep paint in it so it wouldn't rust, unless with went with some aluminum checker plate. I know a guy that could probably get you them for our cost, lol. If you want let me know the size and number of sheets and I'll get you a price, I can do a price on mild steel as well.

Super nice job... how hard is it to get it registered when it's home built?

Home built trailers are pretty easy in Ontario, Tell the ministry you have a homemade trailer and they assign you a VIN and 25$ from your wallet and away you go. Ontario is a one time license fee for trailers. I will probably get a safety on it for my own personal satisfaction but I don't need one.
Few more loose ends next weekend and it should be done except for the ramp.

Hell no Kurt I'm just coming to stay with you..............
That's still the dilemma, but at least I can get all my toys on this one when not camping. Eventually sell both for a 18' enclosed, set up like a poor mans toy hauler.

Ross,

In Michigan you can get a special permit or license and tow both the camper and trailer.

Got out today and put all the finishing touches on the wagon, safety cables, reflectors and visibility tape, finished the deck with the E-track run down the middle recessed into the floor. Ordered the outside weld on tie down loops today and that should be it. Even got it out of the shop and took it for a ride:Bounce:Bounce:D.
