hi every1. i have a 2001 yamaha 660 raptor that needs transmission work and while i had it apart i was going to put a higher compression piston in it like a 11 :1 but with all the problems the starters and starter clutchs have without the extra compression i am worried ??

The mods will move this to quad central for you. It's at the bottom of the page. Yep,trannies are weak, and one way bearings are total garbage on these. Go with a higher comp piston. And whatever else mods you want. Then put a L&A starter clutch in it. They are guaranteed for life and Top notch. They work! Welcome! and what Lake are you nearest?

Haven't had any problems like that with my high comp piston. While you have it apart you might want to get a better rod because the stock ones can't handle very much power.

We come up to the Glen in the summer. Nice area. Raptors aren't too bad if built right. Very easy to get too fast for the stock chassis!!
