I have a 1985 Big Red 250 es. My problem is it wont start. The battery is fully charged but when I hit the start button all I get is a clicking sound, the sound is comming from what looks to me like a solonoid, do I need to replace this? Are they readily available? Thanks Hayden

if the battery is fully charged and you still just get a clicking it could be a bad connection but if the battery has some age on it I would say it is the most likely culprit. Even a worn battery can hold 11-13 volts but the amps will be very low. one way to test is with a load test on the battery or just hook a set of jumpers up to what you have,if it starts and doesnt just click.replace the battery

if its the starter make sure u get the right one because was having same problem on my honda 300 fourtrax so switch some off a 250 big red and it worked but my buddy had a big red too but had a different starter so i guess the dif is the year models or something so thats just a heads up,
