1985 250sx wont stay running

just got a 1985 250sx for free it needs some work but i got it to start but i cant keep it running. also if any one knows where i can get new forks for the front of it from thanks

I'm having the same problem with my 250sx. Have you look at your carb. Mine was so dirty from the gas tank gunk. I cleaned and painted the gas tank inside, new lines and rebuilt the carb with a kit. Not sure if the kit was the way to go because I'm still having problems. Ebay has new carbs for about $120. Carb kits for $15.
