OK, so I have been thinking about doing a trike conversion on a 1970 yamaha R5 350 two stroke. I found that there was once a kit made to convert them but the post I was reading it from was very old, and sounds like all the jigs to make the kits was tossed. I have a hole bike plus a extra engine, and think it would be a cool build. Does anybody out there have any new info on the conversion kits, or real good Pics to go off of?

What do you want for the R5? I'll I'd hate to see it turn into one of those projects that never get finished besides that I really like R5/RD/RZ bikes

Yeah, those are really great bikes. I have a '72 R5 with a later RD350 top end on it. I really like the combination because it has the classic looks of the R5 (which is a MUCH better looking bike than the RD, in my opinion), but it has the performance of the reed-valve RD motor. Now I just need to swap the RD 6-speed tranny into it.
I've never seen a trike conversion on one of those old Yamaha twins. Not that it wouldn't make a great trike, but I think it would be an even better motorcycle. They are really sweet bikes.

I will try to get ahold of him, maybe I will use my extra engine for a trike, and Keep the bike together for a Cafe Racer.

140641140642That is a stock rear axle on that machine. My frame has the optional chrom moly hollow rear axle on it, which was supposed to be much stronger than a stock axle. My frame isn't much prettier, but originally came with an r5 in it that was seized. I did have the rd350 engine transplanted in it, but my buddys kid kept bugging me to sell him the rd350, which he ended up backing out on. Oh well. I also have a set of the gold DG heads for the RD350 on the shelf. This poor old trike, still shoved in the corner.

The gold DG Heads Look Awsome, I have a Picture of a Cafe Racer with them. They remind me of the DG head I had on my 83 250r, they got to be worth a mint to the right person. I need to get a new kick start shaft for my second engine, and that is about it. So I will have to check ebay and then do something with that engine.
