my 85 250sx ran great up till the other day. i rode it around in the morning for about a half hour with no problems. 5 hours later i was going to head back out and the trike would not stay running. it will start up, then quickly shut off like i hit the kill switch. at first i thought it was an idleing issue. so, i cleaned out the carb. including the pilot jet. i found no problems. my fuel screw is out 2 turns. please help me out. thank you.

I forgot to mention I did try running it with the gas cap off. I also checked for broken wires around the cdi area. Thanks.

So I tried a new plug today dr8es-l. The trike had a dr8es. Not sure what the l stands for. But, anyways I had the same dying out issue. I played around with some wires. And the problem went away. I'm not confident with the repair. I hope it doesn't happen while out in the woods. If someone has had a similar issue let me know.

u might want to get some dialectric grease ( i think thats what its called ) thats grease for electronics . i got a atc out of the woods once , been rusting away 4 years, took it home and used that grease and its been one of my better running machines ever sence.. hope this helps..

Vacuum leak on the carb somewhere?

You must have just had a loose wire somewhere. Did you try moving the wires around when it was running to see if you could get it to die? If you can get it to die that might help you find the problem area.

yeah when i finally did get in running i wiggled all connections i could get my hands on. bike stayed running. i have a feeling it may be something to do with my ignition switch. when i turn the ignition off the motor stays running. i have to use the kill switch on the handlebar to shut her down.
