I have been riding quads and dirtbikes for most of my life, but have become obsessed with trikes over the last 6 months. Anything else no longer even interests me.
At this point after about 3 months of endless researching ive found that the tri z atc 250r and tecate all have devout fans. People tend to steriotype the atc as the best, but i think that view if often projected by biased people. It sounds like, in close to stock form, the tri z has best bottom end and tecate is overall the fastest but the atc has better suspension and reliability.
Also, is there anyone on here that prefers the 5 speed tri z to 6 speed? At this point I am basically patiently waiting for a relatively unmolested trike to come along for the right price. I ride mainly trails and dirt hills, some sand. There is an 86 tecate that i have my eye on for 1500. It looks really clean and new fenders clutch ricky stator and flywheel. 6' extended axle and swingarm. It has been for sale for some time now though so i am thinking it might have something fundamentally wrong with it. Any advice? To me the rear shock looks a bit low but that might be just the longer swingarm. If it is blown, ive heard banshee shocks work well on them, no?
