Hey guys, first post here.

I have the opportunity to purchase a 1985 Honda ATC350x. I can get it pretty cheap, the front forks are bent, and it has been sitting outside for a while, including this winter.

Other than the forks, this thing appears to be in damn good condition. IF I get it, my plan would be to restore it into OEM condition, paint, powdercoat, the likes, in order to bring the highest resale value, and because I really love to restore things, and make old things like new again.

If I can achieve that what would be an honest appraisal for a 350x in (actual) mint/restored OEM condition?

Alot depends in the area you are selling it at. Around here a restored 350x in mint condition wouldnt go for under $2000. You would get the most out of it at income tax return time so that could be a goal for having it done by next year. Just my opinion though.

you may could get 2500 if you find a collector and have it done just right....

the forks appear to just be twisted in the trees, not bent. cattle dog on here did a very nice 86 restoration with a bunch of nos parts.I think he told me he got 1700.00 for it. It will only be worth what someone is willing to pay for it and like 84 t3 said people seem to be a little looser with cash feb.-apr.

Your biggest obstacle for an O.E.M. restoration on that bike, judging by the pics, is going to be an original rear fender/mudflap assembly. Like ben said, the forks just look spun in the trees but ya never know. Over all it looks like a decent start if the price is right. Around here $500-700. Hurry and save it from the winter! And welcome to 3WW! :beer

Thanks guys. I'm kind of shifting away from the full on mint OEM restoration, seems like a bit of a stretch. Maybe just fix it up and keep it for a while.

They're getting $1200-$1500 for slightly dinged up 350x's in MA on craigslist. $2000+ for nice resto jobs. its a sick bike. KEEP IT!

that's a $500.00 bike here in Arkansas like it sits ... fixed ... $1500.00 - $1700.00 ... I just bought a very nice 1986 for $1000.00 but it had an aftermarket COBRA muffler on it .

If I can be perfectly honest, if you are trying to do a nice mint OEM, to turn around and make a profit it will never happen. Maybe this is not your intent, but if it is, you are gonna have more into it than you will be able to get out of it. That is the problem with this hobby. I have bikes I have literally thousands of dollars invested into, that realistically are only worth $1500 - $2000. If you are restoring it for yourself, more power to you, that is what the majority of us on this site do, and it looks like a great candidate to do so with. Best of luck with the bike.

Soooooooooo true!

My R has almost 6 grand into it, not including the 1 grand it cost when it was first bought.. I could NEVER get back what's into it. I'd be doing good to get half.... Not that I have any plans to sell it in the foreseeable future mind you..
