I saw a thread on here that I couldn't post on so I decided to make my own.

1985 YT125 - free has 110 fork missing various parts. runs like a champ after lot's of carb work and a tank cleaning.
1984 YT125 - 75$ in bad shape, parts bike for the other two. missing front tire, carb slide, tank plastics and starter assy. will put parts on and try to start it though.
1983 YT125 - 225$ looks decent.
1983 ATC200 - 400$ It's kinda ugly and needs body work. New piston, rings, bore. Runs like a champ and enough compression for a challenge to pull the string.

Probably laugh at me but I paid 1000 for a tecate. It runs and needs nothing but radiator shrouds and a headlight bezel. The whole thing had been redone before I got it, trying to get it back to stock as much as possible and add some performance upgrades along the way, the guy I bought it from it was his baby so I didnt feel like I got hosed to bad.

If anyone can help me with some radiator shrouds, and a front tire I will pay top $$$

Ok so the first one I got I paid the most for $275 an 83 110, then I needed a bigger one and kept asking a customer if they wanted to sell there 83 200m that was sitting tarped in there yard, after a year got that one for $100 and it is nice only had to give it some paint and a new seat cover, then recently I grabbed a rough 200x for $250 engine runs good but has a shifting issue and at the moment the bike is totally apart being painted and fixed up, just started to reassemble it after I spent around $600 on missing and broken parts, and soon hopefully I will get a good price on a 350x or 250r then I might be happy with what I got but probebly not these things are addictive also wouldn't mind throwing a pirahna 150cc or something in a little 70 seems like fun

84 250r, found it on a little back road motorcycle shop, in the corner, in BFE, it was originally a parts bike, I got it for $250. fixed it up. 85 250sx & 85 200x, got them both on a trade, for an 01 polaris trailblazer. my 250sx is still on blocks for now, motor problems. Hopefully i'll have it right for a late spring Busco trip!! Don't see that many trikes out there. I still want to find the yamaha dx225 (unsure if thats what its called but a friend had one, big yellow bike with drive shaft)

84 Honda 200ES Big Red-Free. My grandpa bought it off a guy for 100 because it had been dropped off a trailer going down the road. Fixed it up and beat the snot out of it in high school.

Now 85 Honda 250ES Big red-400. Ran good....needs some TLC though to get it back in good shape. With about 100 bucks it would be good enough....but I figure Im going to fix it back up into at least GOOD shape...missing plastic, fixing cobbled stuff, etc.

had a 1993 ktm 300 baught for $600 back in 2000. bored it 80 over and had it jetted....ring came loose inside scoring the cylinder and cracking the water jets about 2 months before i traded it so i traded straight up for the 1983 atc250r sept of 2011 in my eyes it would cost $400 for the cylinder so thats what i paid for the trike

hmmmmm lets see:

paid 150$ for my basket case klt250 back in 2003. sold it in pieces too.
paid 500$ for a POS 85SX that I restored. Its was a total basket case I sunk 2500$ into before it looked nice again.
600$ for my 84 250R. and then an additional 2G's worth of +6 swinger and a couple 300R custom builds.
Traded the 84R to atc-eric in exchange for an 86 250R, def not an equal trade by any means.
Bought my KFX700 Vforce for 2400$.
bought my 200? 250ex (forgot year lol) brand new from honda for too much money. back around 2003 i think.

Yamaha YTM225DX - $50 - runs but smokes, needs driveshaft/rearend work, plastics, tires, etc, etc, etc.
Honda 125m - $47 and a used car cd player - has ran great for like 5 years now, beat up with crappy tires.
Honda ATC 70 - $75 - ran like crap, had good plastics and perfect tires.

My buddy also just picked up a YTM225DX for $275 that runs but smokes, but his has new back tires, better plastics (still crappy though), brakes, and a headlight.

We got our first 1984 atc250r like ten years ago. 7th grade for me, and first ever motorized vehicle (real safe, right?). it was pretty messed up (halfway working stator coil). Picked it up for 300 bucks, plus like 500 in parts/other stuff.

the second was purchased yesterday. another 1984 atc250r. the engine was completely disassembled. I got back on this site to get some technical specs on engine parts we are missing. this one was received for 450.00

$500 for my 1984 Tecate. Seller was asking $600. He was so worried about whether I was going to show up that he called me 4 times and dropped the price to 500 on my way there without me asking. I'm guessing he needed the money bad. Since then I put new rear tires and douglass rims, and have a DG pipe/silencer I just bought off ebay for 65 shipped on its way. It also needed new sprockets, chain, air filter, grips. so I probably stuck another $400-500 into it.

Traded: 1966 volkswagon dunebuggy with locked up engine and 4-speed tranny (was a rigged POS but it worked great until engine locked). One good go-cart frame with suspension at a four corners and tires/wheels. One awsome chinese 125cc fourwheeler that I stripped down and tightened every bolt that the chinese forgot to tighten. It had high-performane clutch and three speed tranny with reverse and it was camoflauged.
Traded all of this for a 1984 honda 200s that was in pretty good condition.

1979 110. This is how I found it. It is said that a big bore kit was installed back in '79 by the original owner (tech at Pasadena Honda). I am now owner #3. Needs some work and I haven't tried to start it yet, but I was told it does run. But that it has so much compression it has to be pulled with a tow vehicle. I know it turns over without the plug in it,but I can not spin it with the plug in. We'll see when I get the time. I mean $75 I rolled the dice.

Best deal - ACT 70 nearly complete non-runner for $20 at a random yard sale!
1978 ACT 90 in fair shape and a 1984 200s in fair-good shape both running after a carb clean for $1000
4 complete 250es big reds with a nearly complete 250es "parts machine" with 2 extra engines, and tons of other parts, a frame, etc for $2500. ALL run, but some have carb probs yet and most are ugly with rigged up plastics.
$400 for my 250sx, ran well, then carb probs, sea foamed and better now. Plastic etc is in good shape

1984 yamaha 225dx .40 over, web camshaft, bigger jets, custom black/blue/white paint job(not crappy raddle can painting either), wheelies every gear without trying. my uncle bought it new in 84 wrecked it, it then sat outside for a very long time and the engine seized, so he then had the rear axle straightened and had the engine bored. he owned it for a week befor he got to scared to drive it so he sold it to my neighbors kids to ride around their orchard. one of the boys broke the pull start so it was parked out behind the barn(not in the barn) for 5 years before i bought it, rebuilt the carb, fixed the e-start and put in new battery and it starts right up. now i just need to buy a new muffler because this one is straight piped and does not have good back pressure to run as good as i want. all in all its a blast and its my first three wheeler. got it for $100 and a maple tree for lumber.

That was followed by my 85 350X for $300 ( best deal ever), then then got 86 200x and yamaha 125 for $500, very nice 85 350X for $1000, 86 350X for $500 and traded for a nice 86 R, very nice 86 350X for $500, 85 250SX for $500, 87 200x for $250, 2 85 Big Reds for $550, 87 Big Red $700, 73, 74, 84, 85 ATC 70 for $300. 86 and 87 TRX 70 for $300. I just picked up my first one, a 1983 Honda 200E Big Red for $1,300. It's in absolutely cherry condition, despite its age. Brand new tires, no cracks, no parts or hardware missing, and all original; the plastic coating is still on the brake handles! It has a minor amount of surface rust on the wheels and the left side of the front fork, as well as a few spots of rust on the rear rack. Other than that, it looks brand new!

appreciated. Thanks

will post pictures of them now and as I tear them down and send them to powder-coat. Any input for these two 3 wheelers I should keep in mind let me know thanks everyone.

85 350x for 900 bucks. I thought it was an 86 like my last one, but it was an 85 with oem white plastics. Clark plastic tank which is fine with me. A real monster compared to my last one. Picked my 85 KLT-160 up for $100
Had been outside for several years, and had a trashed tank, frozen carb, frozen fronbt brake cable, and was ugly...
I've bought a tank (Thanks again Howdy!), re-painted the plastics, lubed the cable up, and un-stuck the carb...
All I need now is a good muffler- the one that's on it will probably fall apart anytime...

My 85 ATC-110 was $50. No headlight, plastics trashed, broken cylinder head stud, no exhaust, and broken handlebars...
I've fixed the handlebars, replaced the headlight, and about to tackle the cylinder head stud... I've got the stuff to FIX the plastics so they're not totally wasted, and will be looking for a muffler soon...

I paid $185 for my 1982 atc 110 in 2010- it had a broken headlight and front fender and needed a carb rebuild. $50 worth of ebay and 3ww classified items later we were up and running. It's sort of tired but I rode it about 3 times a week for two years. That's a lot of smiles per dollar.

I paid $350 for my 1983 185s in 2011. Looks decent, starts on the first pull. Still trying to sort out a little sputtering problem with the chinese POS carb that was on it but well worth the investment.

I paid $100 for the first 70 that I restored a couple of years ago. I paid $80 for the second 70 that still needs restored, and paid $1k for the 350X but it had $300 worth of new plastic on it, so I felt good about the deal. In 1987 I paid $600 for an 86 ATC250R that had a busted case from the chain coming off, but was otherwise like new. My biggest regret was selling it for $800 in 1992 to help pay for college.

I paid $850 for my '85 250R in okay condition, which I think is a deall in California! (let me know what you think too). Needs a LOT of going through and maintenance but the bike is complete and completely stock. Needs rear plastic at a minimum; the other plastic I can get by with. The desktop computer crashed or I'd show pics of it before I tore the swinger out and started refurbing the back end. Maybe I can dig some up off the camera. No plans on a complete rebuild because I just want to ride it! Don't get me wrong because I'd love to do it but I take tooooo long with projects!

I recently acquired my grandfathers 84 125m. I even found the original bill of sale and warranty card! It spent a great life as a farm machine, now its time to turn her into a hunting rig (sure beats the hell out of walking!!).

1st 85 Honda 250sx paid 150, but invested 250 into it. Got to the point of it still needing more parts, so I bought another 250sx for 100 dollars. All it needed was the complete rear swing arm from my other 250. Then I picked up a 82 Honda 200e for a hundred.

i have a 3 wheeler frame and some parts. when he closed up shop here in Aus a few years ago. i haven't had anything to do with 3 wheelers so it may be a drama building it. i'll probably have to buy a wrecked Honda for most of the running gear, the frame engine mounts were set up for a CR250R engine but it'd be easier to buy an early 80's air cooled Yamaha engine as they sold more of them here.

I bought a pair of Yamaha's earlier this summer and had them to shipped to my summer house in Alaska.
The 85 Tri Z 250 R was $1,200.00 and the 84 Tri Zinger 60 was $600.00. I have not even got my hands on them yet my dad put them on a barge to Alaska for me. I will be there in a week to finally get some time to ride em!

While on vacation in WA I picked up a 1982 Suzuki ALT 50 D Trail Buddy for $160.00, still not running...

The Yamaha's are supposed to be in tip top condition, I also picked up a 85 Honda Big Red 250 ES for like $40.00 its running like a champ!

1985 Tri-Z 250 - Paid $600 in 2008. Has 86 engine (6-speed) that was just rebuilt. Came with riding gear & paddles that I sold to bring my cost down to $450 : ) Awesome bike.
1983 ATC 250R - Paid $300 in 2007 from original owner. 100% stock and top end had never even been apart. I have since rebuilt top end and ride at least 2 times a month. Awesome bike.
1985 Tri-Zinger - FREE! Neighbor was going to throw it away. Gave me this and '86 4-Zinger. Parted out the 4-Zinger for cash to rebuilt Tri-Zinger. Runs great.
1982 ATC 250R - Paid $300 in 2012. Project bike with newly rebuilt engine. Enjoying the build and anxious to ride it. Never had a 1st-gen R before this.
1983 ATC 200X AUTO-X - I've had this bike forever. Recently rebuilt engine but I never ride it. Going to post for sale once I have access to Classifieds.

Don't know if its true, but it makes me feel like I have my own honda "Christine" haha. Runs perfect, drives just as well. Needs a seat, master cylinder reservoir, and some plastic. I think im ready for TF :D

Just picked up 86 Tri-Z, I paid $300 for it last month. Bought it from a buddy who's family was original owner. Its pretty much all there, other than BIlly Bob Mechanical trying to fix little things here in there. Just redid the top end, new gasket kits. Looks like I got water in the oil, very milky, so I have drained and refilled twice but still slightly milk. I am thinking the impeller seal has failed and that is why they parked it. Going to pull the water pump cover and try to replace seal without splitting the case. Does anybody know if this is even possible. I know I need to pin the impeller but do i have to remove engine and split case to get to impeller oil seal? As soon as that is done, Its time to fill it with oil and and gas a see if this monster will come back to life. Then just a matter of replacing all the rusty parts and fadded fenders. My wife thinks Im crazy but I showed her this site and that there were thousands of crazy people just like me.

And got my other 83 200E from my buddy for free and has been a great donor trike, something went in transmission still haven't finished taking it apart to see what went, the forks, top end, rack, plastics and rear end are on the 200S and robbed the wiring harness and starter off for my 200E. paid $350 delivered for my 225dx. it was not anywhere near as good as described but it runs good and shifts good, after i fixed the shift lever. and it rides nice after i put a tube in the front tire to fix the "slow leak" that leaked down in 5 minutes. and it even kinda stops after i adjusted the rear brake, but it needs new pads/shoes. and the front brake would work great if they did not remove the lever and cable. have a new lever, need to find a cable.

paid $50 for my ALT125. just got new coil in the mail, maybe it will run. maybe not. if it starts and moves it will be fixed up, if not will part it out.

Just picked up an 86 Polaris Trail Boss 2WD (3 Wheeler with an extra "Training Wheel" for the wife and kids... LOL!) for $350. Needs a Throttle cable to run. Probably will do the tie rods as well since the balls are a bit loose on the ends...

Also just added another 4 footed beast since I didn't want to build a special plow-mount for my trike... 98 Arctic Cat 400 4WD in like new shape- $1600

The Trail Boss has me thinking about a nice Polaris 3 Wheeler now... Never know when I'll see one on the side of the road with a for-sale sign...

$500 for a Honda 200 ES. Good deal around here considering it runs mint. No hand brakes and welded forks, but I can easily change the forks.

800+ is the norm price for one I have now.

I just paid $500 for a 1985 200x. Great shape other than the rear plastic is shaved and it has a wobble to the left rear rim. Its just bent so i bought one off ebay. I will swap the tire and be in business. The guy wanted $800 but he couldnt get it to run good when i came to look at it. I cleaned carb and changed to oil and it runs like brand new...AWESOME!

I got a 1981 YT125, a guy just wanted it out of his yard, 2 months ago.

I bought a 1982 250R for $175, jug was bad, so I think that calls for a 480!

1985 Kawasaki 160 for free cant use it until I find an exhaust for it which seems impossible but everything else is rebuilt from the ground up. Got offer 1500 for it already. But it means more to my son and I since we built it together. Just have to find an exhaust first.
