Did you try a new plug?? maybe you just flooded it and it needs.a carb clean, or maybe the coil i shot and is not burning the gas enough which in turn would foul the plug, thats what happened to mine swiched out the coil and.runs.liie a dream now. just kicking ideas out onto the table, Good Luck

Hi and congrats.
I've had a few like that.
Sometimes they will spark with the pull and NOT with the electric start.

Try the search key for something like
"intermittent spark" 200es
or
200es no spark
there are tons of pages with suggestions.
Primarily, check all connections and grounds especially.
Coil to ground etc.

could be as simple as a plug like gomer said NGK seems to be the best.
Gas cap vent stopped letting fuel to the carb?

If it is in fact no spark, the spark plug boot cap may be bad.
Unscrew it and see if there's spark directly from the wire to the engine case.

Not to scare you but some folks have gone so far as to replace wire harnesses only to admit the old ones were probably ok but just by going through EVERY connection, they work again.
I've also heard the a good clean kill switch helps.
Makes no sense until you look at the wire diagram.
The cdi get a ground to kill AND to run the ignition from there, or maybe that's the sx.

It's been so long that I forget exactly, but the search key should give you more info than you'll ever need.

I assume it's conductive.
A blast with compressed air or actually clean it.
The clearance on that pickup coil is like a sheet of paper.

Do you have a manual?
They're in the 'world class help' section.

Please let us know what you find.
It's a fairly common and very annoying problem.

ya, its super fine stuff...
not sure what you mean when by "conductive"?
no manuel just a electrical scamadic

Conducts electricity and possibly shorts out important stuff.

no manuel just a electrical scamadic

Look in the 'world class help' section of the front page of 3ww for a manual

So you took the cap/boot off the plug wire and still no spark from the bare wire to the engine case?

There are 2 separate ingition pathways.
One uses the key and electric start and the "other"
is simply the kill switch and pull start, but the key has to be on too.
Does not need a battery to pull start.

How badly chewed up is the wiring?
What was he trying to do?
By pass the ignition / key missing?

Glad you have a meter.
The manual gives you ohms to test stuff.
Like the thing under the cover that says CDI on the cylinder head wants to read around 20 ohms
if you simply unplug it and test across the leads with your meter.

It's easier if you can pretend they're as much fun to work on as they are to ride.
