I have a 85 200x. and i'm wondering is there anyway that you can tell if it has a High Compression Piston without taking the motor apart????:wondering

A compression test will give you a clue but it's not 100% since you don't know the degree of wear to the topend. I don't know what compression it should have for a high compression setup.

I don't know if this will work or not but it is worth a try - pull the spark plug out, shine a light in there and try to get a look at the top of the piston - you may need to rotate the motor to bring it into view. If the top of the piston is flat, probably just a stock piston - if it has a raised portion or deep cut outs for the valves then it is higher than stock compression.
