I am considering buying this bike, does anyone have any advice as to what part costs for the crankcase would run? Also what opionions do you have on the roost boost? I've heard it doesn't do much if anything, will it cause problems?

You can find a crank case here or on ebay. May be kinda pricey for one that isnt repaired already though. Ive heard different opinions about the roost boost but no experiense personally, sorry. For $1000 would be an ok deal on the east coast but make sure that is all that is wrong with it before you commit.

Roost Boost is pure snake oil. I bought an R back in '95 that already had it. I just left it on and before long I started having ignition trouble. I removed the Roost Boost and all problems were resolved. Never saw a performance difference from having the Roost Boost to going without.

I agree with 84T3 on the price. Not too bad if everything else is descent or better.

If that was a running bike, meaning it needed no major repairs, I'd say $1000 would be a great price.

I'd offer $750 to start but wouldn't pay more than $900. I'm not sure how much it would cost to fix, but would imagine at least a couple hundred...

Also, I had a friend that lives in BC tell me they won't let you take whole bikes (only parts) into Canada from the US. I don't know this for a fact but it's something you may want to check into...

I still have a Roost Boost on my 250R...never noticed any difference with or without, but at least I haven't had any problems with it either.

There is no restrictions bringing them into canada except perhaps a heavily modified one. I've spent a decent amount of time on the phone with the border, you just need to have the title and intent to sell faxed to the border 72hrs in advance.
