Hi All,
Bit of a problem.
We bought a smoking 110 atc thinking it was a piston /oil ring. We stripped it down, replaces stems, reseated them, replaced valve stem oil seal, rebuilt the carb while we were at it, but the oil burning through this machine is something fierce. Does anyone know how or why this thing is burning so much oil?
Much appreciated,
Thanks,
Lee

This may sound like a dumb question.....but did somone add oil to the gas, or put mixed gas in it? The only reason I ask is because a lady in my neighborhood did that on her riding lawnmower and smoked out the whole street.

lol we already changed over the fuel just incase as i had a jar of high octane as well, and we were afraid it hadburnt off the oil stem seal. it is a confusing one. It's not like it is a little smoke more like chinese new year built into a 110 engine. I had heard someone at one time advising to change the gap from 0.04 to 0.06 or 0.07, but in all honesty it has had the best part of us and ebay here we go unless i can get a 'why didn't i think of that' answer...
Thanks All,
Lee

Agree with atc300r. I rebuilt a bike once and encountered the exact same dilemma as you have now. I ended up taking the pipe off and shook the megaphone only to hear liquid rolling around. So i drilled a small hole in the baffle and oil came dripping out for thirty minutes, it was rediculous. So check that no oil has collected in your pipe.

Take your exhaust pipe off and start it up. It will be loud .But your pipe may have alot of oil in it and that could cause smoke until it burns off.
I also agree that this is a logical explination, and an easier fix than tearing down the engine again.
