I think I might have to change my CDI on my 200es and I'm looking at them on Ebay and I would prefer to get a new one rather than a used one. BUT I dont see any new ones for a 200es. Just for the 200s, 200x, and the 110 etc. The plugs and the box look exactly like mine. Does anybody know if there is a difference and if I can use a 200s CDI box on my 200es?

Thanks, Jared

Wish I knew. Someone knows for sure.
www.dratv.com seems to have a bunch of good parts and info on
how to make different stuff fit, if it's possible.

Try the search key for 200 es cdi.

1984 200ES is a one of a kind one year only CDI - nothing else will work on it. You can still buy them new, but they are aftermarket, OEM has been discontinued for a while!

if your box has the same number of pins. as those 200s it will work. i have a 200x honda cdi box wired in to my yamaha 225dr works just fine.

Thanks guys, I will look into it some more, and might even take the gamble of using a 200s CDI, couldnt hurt.

The CDI controls reverse and neutral lights and things common to only it, and we all know the 84 200ES won't start if it is in gear. Has to be in neutral. Whitetail hunter - you should check your facts prior to handing out advice.

Well my neutral switch wasn't sending a signal that it was in neutral so I bi-passed it and now the light stays on. It still wouldn't turn over so I checked the reverse safety relay and it was apparently bad so I bi-passed that and finally it was turning over but it isn't getting any spark. Would a bad CDI cause all of these to malfunction?

i was just stating the facts i should have included by passing the lights and neutral safety. my fault and my dr has the same as well wich are bypassed and it does work.

This fellow used a C90 and a GY6 CDI on his 200es.

I could kiss you guys right now! Just sat I was helping my cousin put new rings on his Lifan 110cc dirtbike (It was a turd that we ragged on down the trails) well he bought the wrong rings and we couldn't find the rings for it so we just decided to junk the bike. So I decided to grab the CDI off of it (ya know just in case) and apparently it is the same CDI as the Honda C90. Oh happy day, it looks like I wont have to spend any money! Ill run wires from the CDI to my current CDI plug to see if it works before I go cutting wires. But my damn y'all just made my night!!

Thanks, Jared

200es and trx125 use the same cdi,cdi #969

I looked at that and my 200es had CDI 966 not 969. But they look exactly alike.

Once again thanks guys for the info.

I'm 100% sure the 200es have a #969 cdi.......

966 honda model code doesn't exist.....

If it doesn't exist then why am I holding it in my hand?

Look like 968 from the picture,not 966
968 is atc125m
will probably work, but the 125 cdi will not do the same job for the reverse light security system, since the atc125 doesn't have reverse.
trx125 have reverse and will fit,it's also a 969 cdi on the trx125
trx200 84 use the 969 cdi too

That is the old CDI that came off of my 200es. It is a 966, not 968.
