Starter Gear Issues on 1985 Big Red

Good morning/day to all you fine folks! New three wheeler enthusiast here.

My starter is fine, but the gears in the crankcase were chipped up. I ordered a replacement set, but they didn't fit, they were just a fuzz too big. Someone mentioned there was a factory re-tool in '85, so any recommendation on where to get the gears?

Lots of folks have been through it.
I may have a set of gears in a parts trike but now that you mention it,
may be a good idea to check serial numbers to get the right gear set.
Where did you find the gears you got?

Not sure if the starter gear is different on newer machines.
