I remember a dead battery in my 58 Triumph. (car)

Crossing nowhere Canada, the battery had enough juice to run the engine and coil for about a mile
and then it would die.
Let it sit for an hour or so and it would recover enough to go another 1/2 mile.

Ended up at a gas station with a junkyard out back. St Steven maybe? St Johns?
TINY town, if it even was one.
anyway, I asked the guy if he could charge the battery and he said he could but it wouldn't help.

huh?
yeah, but it will get us the *&^% out of Here before it dies again.

and it's not like he was trying to sell me a battery or regulator or anything.
Maybe he didn't have any positive ground batteries, wtf knows.

redneck prison from a horror movie for sure.

so I stayed out of the way and asked if I could look in the junkyard.
NO problem. That's where we hide the dead bodies is what I thought.

anyway, I came out of the junkyard with a 12 volt heater motor from something or other.
but it had a fan on it.
Paid the guy his 10 bucks for the motor and wandered off to the dead trumpet.

Eyes peeled and looking around like a scared deer, I cannibalized speaker wires from my car,
hooked them to the ignition coil and ran them into the car.
Duct taped the heater fan onto the top of the windshield and push started the car.

When it got to 20-30 mph, the fan motor started to spin and as then engine started to stutter out, I touched the speaker wires to the output of the dc motor and it threw 12 volts to the ignition coil and off we went...for 400 miles.

wind power.

Triumph. LOL Lucas electrics. "The Prince of Darkness". I wonder if they ever realized the true connotations of their motto? LOL

I hear that Lucas may have done the wire harnesses for the 747's.

Don't they have a drop down fan that wind powers the electrics when the engines die?
huh, just thought of that.
A true Lucas backup.

The man who invented darkness.?
There's gotta be more.

another quality product of (---------) british engineering.

Altho, that car has made it cross country at least 3 times, 8-12,000 miles each.
No wonder my back hurts.
