Two strokes mean you gotta mix the gas and oil, unlike a 4-stoke which gas an oil are seperate.

Then it must be a 4 stroke, because there is a spot to put gas and a spot to put oil?

Yamaha 225's were 4 stroke. They aren't bad machines, but they aren't as good as a Honda 250sx / 250es.

FYI, Most 2 strokes have a place to put oil in them also. They need oil to keep the tranny lubed.

what do you want to know about the 225? I have two of them and love them to death. They are a 4 stroke motor like has been said already and a pretty simple machine to work on. The vin is on the passenger side of the neck behind the headlight. For future reference most not all two strokes will have a large expansion chamber on the header exhaust pipe, to build back pressure. Now back to your 225, there are alot of compatible parts between the 200 and the 225, all of the 225's were shaft drive, but the 200 was shaft or chain so if you are needing rear end specific parts make sure you look for the ytm 200e parts. Any more questions feel free to p.m. me
