Stupid question

so I just rebuilt my 82 big red 200e and somehow I managed to break the decompression lever. So the question is can i pull out the broken half and wire the lever onto the head until I get the replacement part?

oh and I just realized I forgot to adjust the valves while the engine was out. do i need to pull the engine again to adjust the intake or is there a special tool?

they can be adjusted in the frame if you have a long feeler guage or like I do a big orange box of accu shims that I can get into there to feel the gapping. Also the decompression lever should be in the disengaged setting unless you broke it inside, so you wouldn't need to support it or your trike won't start.

I got lucky and found a guy that had one so I replaced it and all is good. I ran it last weekend and there is no valve ticking, but I will get them adjusted soon
