I can not figure out how to get this damn thing off. The bigger bolts just spin and I can't get a end wrench behind it. The cover will not come off without the sprocket being off. The manual does not show anything. What is the obvious solution I don't see?

Remove the axle and then all the bolts on the sprocket . The large bolts hold the sprocket to the axle and the smaller 6mm bolts hold the rubber dampener plate to the sprocket .

It's a 1984 ATC 200M. I bought a front and rear sprocket set and the new rear sprocket does not match. Wtf

doesn't match the one thats on there now? teeth wise? it might just not be stock size but the set would still work, might have to take a few links off your chain though

No the holes don't line up (pics below). The manual shows four holes and the one on there has five. Guess someone change axle (I guess). Maybe not, thoughts?

Yeah I think it has been changed out. After looking around it looks like a 1982 200 sprocket. I guess I'll buy one and try it
out.

That looks more like a older 185-200 axle to me. I used to have a New sprocket for them at the shop. Now I am wondering if it is still hanging on the wall.

Ok I finally got the right sprocket. I will have some free time this weekend to attempt to remove the axle. I have read some reviews on this site and watched a couple videos. I have remove the tires and chain and plan on removing the pieces indicated in the pics. Any pointers on how to remove for someone that has never attempted?

You dont have to remove the bearing carrier to do the job . Also while your in their you should replace the axle bearings and brake shoes . The brake drums are famous for being hard to remove so a little heat and a big hammer is your friend !!!!!

Ok thanks. Glad I asked. I do not have anything to heat with so I guess the hammer will have to work. Are the bearings on eBay ok or should I use something else? Thanks.

If you're not going to use it, I'd be ineterested in that rear sprocket you didn't use...let me know. I'd rather help out a member here....

That's what im trying to explain , the hammer most of the time isn't enough to remove the drum , its the heat and penetrating fluid thats going to loosen it , but you might get luck and it will come right off  . A cheap Home Depot plumbers torch will do the job but see if you can remove it first .
EBay bearings are fine .

That looks like the 82 big red and plain old atc200 rear end to me. my 83 bigred had the new sprocket type you shown in one of those pics. i second the hard to remove brake drum!

Well it was a lot easier than I expected. I had to buy a bigger crescent wrench but it all came right off. I sprayed everything down last night with wd-40 and had no problems. Now I need new bearings and rear brakes. I think the front bearings need replacing too. I will have to search how to do that next. Thanks guys for all the input and advice.
