84 200x rear shock adjustment

can anyone explain how the settings on the black knob at the bottem work, and which is better for a rider about 240 lbs, thanks Matt

There are 4 pre-loads and there are numbers on the bottom of the adjuster (1-4), 4 is the stiffest. I am 249lbs and that's what mine is set at.

You can also stiffen up the shocks for bigger riders by tightening the nuts on the threads on the top of the shock
