I have purchased a 1987 250sx in great running condition minus brakes (front and rear pads worn out) for $900. The seat is mint and the plastics are great except for 2 small cracks beside the toolbox lid. I just ordered 14" ITP Type 7 rims with (2+5) offset. 26x11x14 zillas and 1.5" wheel spacers for the rear. Tomorrow I am picking up a 200x minus engine/tank/plastics for $75.
I have a few questions as follows:
I would like to convert my front end to the 200x.
Should I use my existing triples and just run the 200x fork tubes and make spacers for either side of the 200x tire?
If I use the entire 200x front end will my 250sx front fender and headlight fit?
What is the 200x front rim dimensions and offset?
What is a good steering tire for trail and mud? What size front tire should I go with?
One last thing that I am tinkering with in my mind is a rear end disc brake conversion. Could I fabricate a spacer to bolt onto the inside of my right tire hub with a disc mounted to it? Then on the rear axle housing weld a bracket to bolt the 200x caliper to? Anyone try this or is this wishful thinking?
Any advise or input would be greatly appreciated!
