Putting together a 85 200x and went to put carb on and found that the carb is ending up against the frame.could the ebay used intake be for a 200s as i found another intake in some parts with my 200s and it looks just like the won that was sold to me as a 200x intake.any help would be great

Could very possibly be. The X and S look the same, but the angle is a little different.

I ran into the same problem. I have a 84 200x with a 200s top end I believe. the manifold I ended up needing was off a 200s . The 965 one from a 200x put the carb into the frame as well. the 200s manifold worked perfectly though. hope this might help a little.

You have it backwards . 200x frame = 200x intake no matter what utility motor you put in the X frame .

So how do you identify the x intake from the s,the bend has to be noticeably different from one another. The one i purchased on eBay the buyer swears it came off a 84 200x i find that hard to believe as there is no way to mount the carb with this intake,it simple has the wrong bend. and the 200x head looks the same as the 200s head at least on the out side the castings look the same the x cylinder is different so i think i was just sold a 200s intake and hear lies the problem. These bikes are twenty plus years old now so getting correct parts and info is sometimes difficult. That's why i joined this great site. thanks for everyone's info on this topic.
