i have a 85 yamaha ytm 225dx and i am having some issues with it. one minute the bike runs like a watch and the next the machine acts like its staarvin for fuel. it idles great and starts up with no problems. i start it up and take off and as soon as the throttle gets to the 3/4 position the motor cuts out. it does this in every gear. i can never open it up like i want to. i have cleaned and checked and re checked the carburetor and everthing checks out. has good gas and mechanical timing is on. the valves ae set to the correct lash. i heard that the cdi's can go bad, but i have three othe yamaha trikes from that era and none have ever done this. i am looking for some advice before i go spend the money on a stater and cdi. if anyone has any extra parts let me know and your advice is much appreciated.

Check air box. check fuel filter if it has one. sounds like its sucking air somewhere. Intake boot maybe??
