what is the the best / safest way to get the barrings out of a 350x swing-arm?

As heat and beat seems to work for most...a standup press is the superior tool for all bearing issues.

IMO you should not use heat....
For hammering out the bearings, I use a long 3/8's extension with a socket on the end just small enough to fit in there. Works a lot better then a punch.
To press them in I use 3/8 threaded rod, stick it through, washer and socket the same size as the bearing on the side you want to press in, with a nut. On the other side use a bigger washer and socket so that it will work as a press and pull the bearing in, put asocket on the nut and tighten away... Perfect press.

Nope, just a guy who can't afford proper bearing pressers. :)
