klt 160, 185, and some 200s were all shaft drive. the 200s even had a differential

Only the klt160 & klt185 had shaft drive, the differential was found on some of the 200's and all of the 250's, but those were all and only chain driven. Usually the shaft driven models had reverse.

That's a Kawi with a differential, not a drive shaft, the two are completely different ideas.

A shaft driven atv/atc has a shaft coming from the engine going to the rear drive train, while a differential is located on the rear axle and it splits the axle into 2 seperate parts if needed so one wheel will spin more than the other on turns.

you know sometimes i can be a real idiot. i sure feel like one now anyway.

it was just a couple weeks ago i posted something about the Kawi's being the only 3wheelers with a diff that i know of, but somehow managed to forget they had shafts too? Hoosier Daddy

Whoops! I Just thought that was shaft driven looking at the picture of the axle. I had a Kawi 200 chain drive with the diff lock and it looked alot different. Aparently that is a cover over the chain and diff on the axle pictured. Mine must have been taken off because it looked alot smaller. I just assumed by the massive size that that was a shaft drive diff on that kawi.

Yea, Kawi wanted to make it a sealed drive train, the rear sprocket was big.
