I have a 185s that has a nasty gas tank and that I dont think I can salvage it at all.... Other 185s gas tanks on ebay are going for a little more then I am willing to pay for (and I dont see a good one at a good price) is there another honda gas tank that would fit my atc?
thank you

You should be able to rinse the nasty stuff out. If there is rust or small holes in the tank you can line the tank using tank liner kits. I personally use "Red-Kote" and the stuff is awesome and pretty easy to use.

Other tanks: Honda 185, 185s, 200, 200s tanks are all the same design and will fit.

Red-Kote is a little steep but worth every dime!

I found I can get it locally at "O-Riley's" for under $30 a quart. 1 Quart can coat 3-5 tanks. 30 / 3 tanks = $10 a tank ( + time ). I used to pay $38 + shipping per quart. ;)

To anyone looking for Red-Kote do a google search and hopefully you find some place local that is cheaper that having it shipped in.

I know Auto Zone has it here for about the same price.

man, if i had checked back earlier i would have saved some money, i ended up buying a plastic gas tank off of ebay.... but I still do have one question..... the rubber gromets that hold the tank to the frame.... what is the best replacement for those... i always end up loosing them..... and I dont want to pay 10 dollars a piece everytime I loose one... is there an alternative?

One time in a pinch I actually used short pieces of rubber hose to get me by. It was heavy duty ( thick wall ) hose and held up for the 3 months they were on the machine.
