Have fun! Sprock is supposed to have another batch of 83/84 250r bolts machined up from what I thought I heard. I had to have him press the bolt out of the frame with a press for my 84 250r. On my 86 250r the bolt was froze but for those you can run a 300ex bolt (easy to find) so I just saw zalled the swinger off the bike. Good luck man! Check eBay for bolts, or contact Sprock

Yes it's the big bolt, and you dont need a special tool. I use a long punch and there is a lil hole started in the nut end, that's where I put the punch and punch it out. The bolt goes threw The motor also. If you are taking out the swing arm There is more than that bolt, Sock and maybe the linkage.

Flip the bike on its side and spray with PB blaster. Also use a rag soaked with it. Stick on top of the bolt end and let sit overnight. Next day use heat and tap it with a bolt of same diameter, if possible have someone attempt to turn the bolt as you tap it, might be lucky and worth a shot?

The reason I ask is I'm trying to get my engine out. Where would I make the cut with the sawzall

Where would I make the cut with the sawzall

on the inside of the frame between the frame and the swingarm. I've done 2 this way - a 20 ton press didn't budge mine. These need to be removed and greased avery year or two to keep them from seizing once you ge tthe new one installed. Kind of a bad design from honda really.

When I would take my engine out of my 86 R I would find a long thin screw driver ( one that I don't really about) place it in the middle were the threads are and slightly hit it with a hammer took me a while but with some wd40 it came out just fine hope this helps !

Heat works best on most things but watch out for any aluminum it melts real easy

if ya can get a hold of a air chisel with the pointed tip tehy work good on oem pivot bolts cause they have the little holes in the middle it can sit right in it. be sure to pb blast it over night first, better stuff to use is called 45 way better than pb

Weld a rod to it and make a home made slide hammer...heres how I do it.
