85' T3 Axle- Slight bend on one side, same side,sloppy,spline.

Is there anything I can do with this??? It was bent pretty good at one time. I straightened it the best I could, just to get it rideable. Well the spline didn't last too long(6yrs!). I have another axle for my 85' resto. Do I donate it to my "yard art" pile?

Most axles are usually made from specialty steels and treated in ways to allow flexibility and rigidity. Once something so specialized bends it will never have the same properties even if you were to get it perfectly straight again. I could go on molecular memory, grain, crystallization and a bunch of other things I know only enough about to trick you into thinking I know something about them, but in short, I’d get rid of it and buy a good one before it snaps and gives you the G-force experience of a lifetime.
