Sorry for the duplicate pictures, im starting to get the hang of it. The story....1986 ATC250R with 1991 CR500 engine. The very last picture is how it actually sits today. Engine is bolted in & cooling system hooked up. The swing arm is 4" over stock, frame fresh sand blast & powder coat. The engine is 80 over Weisco, mild port, mild head shave, new clutch, some high temp powder coating.

I chose to modify the back bone of the frame for engine clearance. I wanted to keep my ground clearance and factory 250R handling so i chose not to cut the down tubes and lower. I will take some better close up pictures with the tank off to show the modifications if anyone is interested? This is a great web site!

Just got new black wheels in the mail. Waiting for front end bearings. I should have some new pictures of my progress next week. Anyone have some info on good rear brake ideas for the 500R conversion?

It may help on your brake question to know what rear end are you using? Nice progress!

I'm running a stock 250R swingarm, axle and rotor. The issue is the clearance at the brake pedal and master cylinder. Since the CR500 engine kicks backwards it hits the stock brake lever not allowing for a full kick to start the engine. I have an idea what I need do, just want to bounce it off someone who has done the conversion.

AWESOME BIKE! Looking great so far man, very nice work. Ya some pics of the bake bone would be cool to see. I want to do a 500 conversion at some point. I thought I had seen a 500 conversion where someone ran the stock brake but upside down.... I dont have any experience with them, but theres atleast a half dozen good ones on this site and their owners would more than likely chime in with good info soon. Keep us posted man, great work!

Try using a hosting website like photobucket then just copy and paste the link for the pics here.

A friend of mine did that build in 1985 and it was one bad bike. I raced it once in a buddy race with one of my teammates and it was rippen with me at the helm and Robbie hanging on for dear life.
